Mini-Symposium
Sessions
The 11th ICRS science program has
been organized to address contemporary
scientific questions within
the framework of a series of
twenty-six Mini-Symposium topics.
Each mini-symposium is similar to
concurrent sessions of the past
symposiums with provocative questions
and thematic guidance that
was used in selecting the oral and
poster presentations. The Mini-
Symposia are intended to provide
information on and address particular
problems and issues facing
contemporary coral reefs to help
ensure favorable conditions for future
reefs.
The Mini-Symposium sessions are
held as concurrent sessions
throughout the convention center.
For detailed scheduling information
refer to the Program-At-A-Glance,
Daily Schedule, or the Mini-Symposium
Can This Relationship
Be Saved? Why Journalists
and Scientists Just Don’t
Communicate –
SeaWeb/Compass Panel
Discussion and Reception
Tuesday, July 8
6:15-7:30PM
Floridian Ballroom D - 3rd Floor
Followed immediately by a
reception in the Floridian Ballroom
Lobby; 7:30 - 9:00PM.
This evening panel is sure to provide
fireworks to end your day. Top
scientists and premiere journalists
will go head to head.
Reporters need plain talk. Scientists
need details. Reporters need
overviews. Scientists need caveats.
You get the idea. Audience participation
will be unscripted and decidedly
not peer reviewed as we
investigate how to make this relationship
work. This interactive debate
will be co-moderated by Jeff
