Reached Padang then Colombo to India. Major, Indian
Army Engineers. Serious health problems. Died at sea
15.2.44 [35]. His diary published: 'Singapore to Colombo
the diary of Major Colin W Inglis Indian Engineers 13 th
Febraury to 5th March 1942.' Printed London 1945.

INGLIS Wallace b.1909 Liverpool. Worked for Alfred Holts, Liverpool
then to Mansfields/SSC, Singapore early 1930s. Escaped
Singapore 14.2.42 in the Mansfields Escape group on the
Imperial Airways launch. Arrived Fremantle WA on the
Zaandam 6.3.42. Returned to Mansfields postwar. Retired
c.1960 and worked with Thames Terminals Container
