Mounting Bias <strong>Off</strong>-<strong>The</strong>-<strong>Road</strong> Tires on EM Rims<br />

(Tubeless-type. See page 60 for additional instructions for tube and flap insertion.)<br />

Read safety instructions<br />

(pages 26-35) before proceeding.<br />

1. Before mounting:<br />

• Clean all rim components. Remove<br />

rust and dirt. Lock ring and O-ring<br />

grooves must be clean and rust free<br />

for proper seating and seal. (Photo 1)<br />

• Inspect parts for damage. Replace all<br />

cracked, worn, damaged, or severely<br />

rusted components.<br />

• Paint or coat all parts with rust inhibitor.<br />

• Double check to be sure correct<br />

parts are being used.<br />

• Inspect inside of tire. Remove any<br />

foreign matter. Use compressed air<br />

to dry any moisture.<br />

2. Place base on 4” - 6” blocks (10-13 cm)<br />

or mounting stand. Gutter side must be<br />

up.<br />

3. Place back flange on base. (Photo 2)<br />

4. Lubricate tire beads with vegetable lubricant.<br />

• Use only approved vegetable-based<br />

lubricants.<br />

• Lubricate from toe to GG ring on<br />

tire.<br />

• Lubricate moderately, but thoroughly.<br />

5. Use tire hoist with sling or tire handler<br />

to lift tire. Place on rim. (Photo 3)<br />

Stand clear when using a cable or chain<br />

sling. It can snap and lash out.<br />

6. Depress tire bead area to ease assembly<br />

of next components. (Photo 4)<br />
