rear view mirrors clean. This provides<br />

good visibility needed to avoid hazards.<br />

3) Check to be sure rear axle rock ejectors<br />

are in place and working properly (Fig.<br />

6). Remove rocks lodged between dual<br />

tires (Fig. 7).<br />

4) Avoid waterholes/potholes as they could<br />

hide submerged tire hazards.<br />

5) Never turn front steering axle tires<br />

when the vehicle is standing. This creates<br />

very high stress and sheer forces<br />

within the tires.<br />

6) Keep off windrows. <strong>The</strong>se are often present<br />

when haulroads are being graded.<br />

7) Do not drive on the berm of the road.<br />

Obstructions are often present.<br />

8) Do not drive over spillage. Spillage can<br />

damage tires. Report it so that it can be<br />

cleaned up (Fig. 8).<br />

9) Do not drive or back over rocks at<br />

shovel or dump areas. (Fig. 9)<br />

10) Do not spin tires. This includes<br />

jackrabbit starts and locked brake stops.
