ASP FIGHTS SOFTWARE PIRACY
Much ha* been Mid and written In condemnation of
software piracy but taw have taken a positive stand
against rt. ASP la among those few that have taken
action to help curb the grave problem of home
copying of commercial software
ASP has already taken steps to eliminate
advertisements In our magazine* which relate to
tape duplication for piracy purpose*. While it is
appreciated that Individuals may take 'back-up'
copies of their own programs. It should be noted that
h is ILLEGAL to copy commercialy avalabie
software for other than personal use.
Software piracy Is costing the software industry
huge sums of money which Is detrimental to the
future development of the industry. It Is in
everybody's Interests to dramatically reduce the
level of software piracy primarily because firms need
funds raised from software sales to plough back into
research and development of new products. This
means that the standard of software products can
only improve.
ASP hopes our action wIN help combat this
serious problem in order to maintain and improve the
high standards of the UK software industry. We are
asking you to do the same by refraining from
duplicating or copying commercially available
software lor anything other than personal use.
