It’s National Mac and Cheese Day! 

Okay. It wasn’t top-secret Pentagon 

classified information, but it was necessary 

because who doesn’t love mac and 

cheese? If you or someone you know 

doesn’t love, not even like, mac and 

cheese, call the men in black because 

there is something otherworldly about 

you or them. 

But, yes, it’s National Mac and Cheese 

Day. 

Fun Fact: Did you guys know that this 

cheesy side dish became popular in the 

U.S. in 1937? 

Fun Fact to the Fun Fact: It’s older 

than sliced bread itself. 

Who do we have to thank for giving 

us this ooey, gooey, cheesy dish? Kraft. 

Yes, that Kraft. Kraft released its boxed 

macaroni and cheese in ’37, and we 

know how much of a hit it was because 

we wouldn’t be here otherwise. 

Kraft’s boxed mac really came at a 

good time for the country, as the Great 

Depression was nearing its end. Boxes 

were sold for 19 cents a box. 19 cents. 

Despite the circumstances, I would love 

to be able to buy something for 19 cents 

in 2024. I don’t think 19 cents would 

give me a spoonful of sugar, to be honest. 

I’m not sure if you know the rule 

when it comes to federal holidays, especially 

Thanksgiving. The rule is that the 

holidays are NOT the time to try a new 

recipe or add a twist to a world-famous, 

globally loved food dish. If you are 

the person who prepares the mac and 

cheese and you are thinking of preparing 

it in a different way, July 14 is the 

time for you to do it. 

Well, any day is the time, as long as it’s 

not on Thanksgiving or Christmas. You 

will be disowned.

cheeses out. Traditional cheeses like 

cheddar, mozzarella, parmesan, Colby 

jack, etc., are still knocking it out of the 

park. 

Don’t try to fix something that isn’t 

broken. 

I can smell my mom baking some mac 

and cheese right now. Excuse me while
