JULY/AUGUST 2024 TRAVEL
While the town's allure may not rival the bustling energy of other Malaysian settlements, its proximity
to Kinabalu National Park and the majestic Mount Kinabalu ensures a gateway to unparalleled natural
beauty. A leisurely three to four days in Kundasang grants travellers ample time to explore the
wonders of the national park and indulge in the surrounding attractions. However, for those daring
to conquer the heights of Mount Kinabalu, an additional two days are warranted.
For the optimal experience, plan your visit to Kundasang between March and September.
During these months, the weather remains pleasantly dry and warm, offering ideal conditions
for admiring the awe-inspiring vistas of Mount Kinabalu or embarking on the daring ascent of its
peaks. That said, the whims of nature in the highlands often bring unexpected showers and veils
of mist, reminding visitors of the ever-changing mountain climate. From September to February,
the chance of rain increases, veiling the landscape with occasional downpours. Nonetheless,
even amidst the showers, the natural splendour of Kundasang remains captivating.
