From The Board President To You
While we are having a wonderful summer and having lots of fun, please
remember that we live in an area with a high risk of wildfires. Many of us
remember the devastation of the wildfire here in Steiner Ranch in
September 2011. For those that did not reside in Steiner at the time, the
following article from Four Points News will give you the history:
https://www.fourpointsnews.com/2020/09/30/looking-back-muchhas-been-learned-since-the-steiner-sept-2011-wildfires/
Though fireworks are legal in Texas, they are not permitted to be set off
and used in Steiner Ranch. In addition, please do not camp in the
greenbelts and create campfires. Please adhere to the NO FIREWORKS
rules for the safety of our families, neighbors and wildlife (HOA fines can
be issued for their usage). If one area of Steiner Ranch is on fire, we are
all at risk because it is the hot embers in the sky that can travel for miles
and fall on structures that cause fire to ignite in other areas.
The SRMA and SRROA are actively and regularly working with Lake Travis
Fire and Rescue to educate the community about fire safety, best
practices for your home, and what to do in the event of a fire. Please find
the latest fire mitigation and safety information at:
https://steinerranchhoa.org/wildfire-preparedness-contents/
You will find information on how to prepare for a wildfire, how to harden
and protect your home and family. All these tools can be shared with
you by LTFR as they offer free Home Ignition Zones consultations and the
pamphlet referred to above. Many of our residents have had them and
it was eye opening and so helpful. To schedule your HIZ, please contact
Dustin Dunn to set up your appointment: wildfire@ltfr.org
Please also sign up for text messages from Warn Central Texas to stay
informed about general emergencies and wildfires that affect our area.
You will get real time updates with instructions should there be a fire in
Steiner Ranch. WarnCentralTexas.org
Great news! Evacuation Route B will officially be operable on
Wednesday, July 10th. More information to come.

Now that the overdue maintenance and repairs are complete, the
board is now focused on landscaping. Urban Dirt is no longer our
contracted provider. For months, the board researched, met with and
retrieved competitive quotes from various landscaping vendors. The
board selected Texas EcoGrow for our landscaping and irrigation. They
began June 1st. Things are already starting to improve, and we need
your patience while they take the few months to get the irrigation right
and clean up the grounds. We planted new drought-tolerant and
mostly Texas native landscaping at our front entrances. As the budget
permits, we will be making our way down the raised beds on Quinlan
Park Road and fan out from there. Many of our landscaping projects are
being placed on hold because the beds are being ruined by these
motorized vehicles. The gated communities will also be provided with
new landscaping from funds their individual budgets allow for.
Our new landscaping company is working to improve our irrigation
problems. Our sprinkler heads are constantly needing repair and
replacement because bikes and prohibited motorized vehicles and E-
bikes are riding on the grass. Bike riders, please stay on the sidewalks.
Please refrain from using motorized vehicles, and E-bikes as they are
prohibited in our community. Those operating such vehicles are subject
to a $500 fine per occurrence and will be responsible for the costs of
any repairs resulting from their behavior.
There are so many of us concerned about the WCID-17’s project on
Quinlan Park Road. There is extreme disappointment in their
commitment and attempt to restore the landscaping affected by their
work. Since the beginning of the project, the board met with WCID-17’s
project manager and representatives and insisted they make things
right. WCID-17 has chosen inaction and is not meeting expectations of
the HOA. We have referred this matter to our legal team to resolve on
our behalf. Updates will be provided as they become available to the
board.
Enjoy all your summer activities and vacations with your families and
please remember to stay safe.
We’d like to remind residents that the disposal of trash and household
items in Amenity Center dumpsters is prohibited, except in the case of
clean-up following a private rental.
These receptacles are intended only for community maintenance and
events. Disposing of large items or inappropriate materials leads to
overflow, attracts pests, creates odors, and potentially incurs extra costs
for the Association.
Fortunately, there are other convenient options for residents to utilize.
In addition to community wide seasonal pick-ups performed by Texas
Disposal Systems, each Steiner Ranch household is entitled to two (2)
bulk pick-ups per year and additional may be scheduled for a fee.
For accepted and prohibited items and detailed guidelines please visit:
https://www.texasdisposal.com/blog/dispose-of-large-items/
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in keeping shared
facilities running smoothly.

HIZ - Home Ignition Zone
Inspections
SMART . PROACTIVE . NEIGHBORLY
Own Your Zone
Ignition-resistant homes depend on actions taken in three zones around th
home. Many of these actions are affordable and can be taken by individua
homeowners. BE A GOOD NEIGHBOR & PROTECT EACH OTHER!
Encourage your neighbors to create an ignition-resistant neighborhood!
1 2 3
The Immediate Zone The Intermediate Zone The Extended Zone
0-5 feet from the home, including the home
5-30 feet from the home 30-100+ feet from the home
This is the zone most vulnerable to
embers. Harden the home to wildfire
with ignition-resistant siding, roofs,
decks, attic vents, eaves, and windows.
Avoid storing combustible materials on
or under decks. Remove vegetation and
flammable mulch to create a five-foot
buffer zone around the home. Clean
gutters and roofs of debris.
Use careful landscaping to reduce the
continuity of fuels and help slow fire
down. Remove branches that overhang
the structure. Replace wood fencing
with noncombustible metal fencing
where it attaches to the home.
Space and prune trees and vegetation
to keep flames smaller, lower to the
ground, and to interrupt fire’s path.
KEEP OUR
COMMUNITY CLEAN
We all love our furry friends, but it's important to keep our
been instances of dog waste being left on front yards, and we need
your help to address this issue.
Together we can make a difference!
If you witness someone not cleaning up after their pet, kindly
remind them about our shared responsibility.
Encourage fellow neighbors to join the effort to keep our
community clean and welcoming.
PET OWNERS, PLEASE
TAKE NOTE
Scoop the Poop: Be responsible
and clean up after your pets.
Use Waste Bags: Carry waste bags and
Texas oak wilt and how to prevent it!
Oak wilt, one of the most destructive tree diseases in the United States, is killing oak
trees in central Texas at epidemic proportions. Oak wilt is an infectious disease caused
by the fungus Bretziella fagacearum, which invades and disables the water-conducting
system (xylem) in oaks.
Prevent New Infections!
Remove and dispose of oak wilt-infected red oaks immediately.
Avoid wounding oak trees, including pruning, from February through June.
Paint all wounds and fresh stumps immediately regardless of season.
Red oak wood that is suspected of infection should not be stored.
