There’s going to be more than one type of
hog at Round Lake Vineyards & Winery.
In addition to classic cars there will also
be motorcycles and a whole roasted hog at
their Cruisin’ Hog Roast & Car Show at 5 p.m.
Friday, July 12.
The event came from idea to bring likeminded
people together to relive the days long
gone by.
“For many it’s about nostalgia. It doesn’t
matter if you were a kid in the ’50s, ’60s, ’70s,
or ’80s, the car that reminds you of a great time
in your life will probably be there. For the car
owners, they love to share their memories and
the time they’ve committed to that special car,”
said Scott Ellenbecker, one of the owners of
Round Lake Vineyards & Winery.
The cars are parked along the lake shore and
there are no entrance fees for the cars or the
people wanting to enjoy looking at them. The
event officially starts at 5 p.m., but cars can
start arriving before 4 p.m.
In addition to the classic cars there will also
be some other interesting vehicles to catch
your eye.
“We also see many newer cars and some
vintage models. Corvettes and Porsche, Aston
Martins and Model Ts. We even had a World
War II vintage truck a couple years ago,” Ellenbecker
said. “We try to keep cars in groups of
similar model and vintage, but many just want
a good spot by the lake or in the shade to visit
with other car enthusiasts.”
They decided to make it extra special by adding
something unique to the menu.
“We’ve been roasting a pig since the first
time we had this event. A hog roast just
seemed to fit as a fun food for a super casual
car event. The grill will also be turning out
burgers and brats. We also feature keg beer
specials and slushies along with the full bar,”
Ellenbecker said. “The restaurant and bar will
also be open if someone wants to see the cars
then head over to the main winery building

The atmosphere will be enhanced by the
music of local favorite Dan Jensen throughout
the event.
This event is a longtime favorite that brings
in crowds of car enthusiasts and people just
looking to spend an interesting evening.
“We’ve been doing this for many years and
the event is up or down in number of cars
based on the year and weather. We’ve had 150
cars and we’ve had 75,” Ellenbecker said. “It
depends on the year. There are no pre-assigned
parking spot for cars or restrictions on who
can bring a car, so we don’t know what’ll happen
until it does. But it’s always been a good
turnout.”
Even if you don’t have a cool classic car, you
can still cruise on in to Round Lake Vineyards
to enjoy strolling along the lakeshore while
enjoying some good food and fun in a beautiful
spot.
“This event really pulls the whole property
together for a fun evening by the lake. I think
that’s what I like about this event the most.
There is a warm summer nights by the lake
vibe: sit by the koi pond and waterfall with
friends or wander around looking at nice cars
or just listen to the music and relax,” Ellenbecker
said. “No agenda and a beautiful evening
is sometimes all one needs for the perfect
family escape or date night.” F
