New indoor sports facility The NSW Government has allocated $1 million to allow planning to begin for a new multipurpose indoor sports facility at Northern Beaches Secondary College – Cromer Campus. Wakehurst Independent MP Michael Regan joined Premier Chris Minns to visit the campus for the announcement in June. The NBSC Cromer Campus student population has grown significantly in recent years, including students from the upper Northern Beaches, and while some minor works and refurbishments have been delivered, the school community has been vocal in their support for a new school hall. Mr Regan said this new facility would be used by the school during school days, with local sports clubs and other community groups able to use the facility after hours, on the weekends and during school holidays. “Across the Northern Beaches, the community has been crying out for more indoor multi-use sports courts, so everyone can play the sports they love,” he said. “Waiting lists are in the thousands, with kids in particular missing out.” News The Local Voice Since 1991 JULY 2024 39
