Welcome
We have plenty to shout about throughout July
and August with multiple days dedicated to the
celebration of wine. Make the most of them and
encourage customers to indulge in something
sparkling before their meal, or to sip a glass of
old vine Chenin or two, with friends.
Albariño day falls on the 1 st of August and is to
be enjoyed with the amazing seafood we’re so
lucky to have landed on our doorstep. We love
to drink it with Hake fish and chips, Monkfish in a
punchy marinade or just to accompany a simple
crab sandwich.
We’ll raise a glass to old friends Shiraz, Cabernet
and Pinot Noir this summer, each could become
a BBQ favourite, Shiraz is perfect with a spiced
lamb burger, Cabernet a classic with steak and
Pinot Noir, made to accompany tuna in a soy,
sherry, garlic and ginger marinade.
When the sun finally shows its face, why not
entice your customers with a chilled glass of
rose. To help we have paired four different types
of rosé wine with four summer ready dishes.
Finally, we are so excited to have won the On
Trade Multiple Venue Wine Buyer 2024 award,
confirmed at the London Wine Fair ceremony.
We will definitely be celebrating with a wellearned
glass of fizz!
Summer
Wine Cocktails
Don’t get us wrong – wine is amazing on its own, but sometimes it’s nice to mix
things up a bit, particularly on a hot day. Why not try one of these wine cocktails?
Strawberry Watermelon Frosé
Why limit yourself to rosé when you can have frosé –
a frozen rosé slushie? We especially love this recipe
for Watermelon Frosé. Simply pour a bottle of rosé
into a container and freeze it for at least six hours.
Campari Prosecco Spritz
Simplicity is often the key to the best results. Not
as sweet as Aperol, Campari joins sparkling wine,
sparkling water and a big wedge of blood orange in
this sunny spritz cocktail.
Blend the frozen rosé with watermelon juice, agave
nectar, lime juice, blood orange liqueur (optional),
and a handful of fresh or frozen strawberries. Mix and
enjoy. Garnish: Fresh strawberries and watermelon
slices.
Boasting a deliciously refreshing flavour and
sparkling texture thanks to the addition of aromatic
Prosecco, the drink is a firm favorite for Campari
lovers all over the world.
Panzanella caprese
Strawberry tart
Coteaux Varois en Provence Rosé Domaine
Teisseire, Côtes de Provence
Panzanella Caprese would be a delight with our Provence
Rosé Domaine Teissiere. Panzanella is simply tomatoes,
cucumber, peppers, red onion, basil, and capers, while
Caprese is yet more tomatoes, basil and a generous
serving of Mozzarella balls. Coteaux Varios en Domaine
Teissiere Provence Rosé offers delicate red summer
fruits of strawberry, raspberry and a hint of watermelon.
Refreshing acidity provides an enjoyable, light crisp finish,
ensuring a perfect pairing with the salad dish or simply a
glass sat in the sun while enjoying life.
The French region of Provence is known for its beautiful
landscapes, river valleys, coastlands and mountainous
areas with picturesque wineries, all under a wonderful
Mediterranean climate. The wineries focus on producing
the very best Rosé wines made from the wonderful
Cinsault grape. Treat yourself, you deserve it!
ve
Terrazzo Zinfandel Rosé | California
A Strawberry Tart needs a best friend, and what could
be better than a wine bursting with melon, raspberry and
apple flavours such as our Terrazzo White Zinfandel, from
the USA.
The tart is made with shortcrust pastry that is dense and
crumbly, containing a sweet strawberry filling most often
served warm, making the White Zinfandel grape variety
the perfect sipping rosé for this dish. White Zinfandel
has a sweeter taste and is much milder than a drier Pinot
Grigio Rosato or a wonderful Provence for example.
Not just an eye-catching label! This vibrant pink wine has
a sugar content 50% lower than most White Zinfandels.
Young and fresh, chill this wine down and enjoy with our
suggested pairing or chilled with friends in the summer
sun.
Old Vines Day
The term 'old vine' has no legal standing so its perception can vary from country to country,
especially as vines can live for 100 years plus! As a vine generally reaches adulthood at 7 years
old, it is classed as mature from 12 years onwards, becoming 'old' (in a good way!) from around 25
years. Vines tend to lose productivity as they age meaning they produce a smaller crop with more
concentrated grapes, resulting in a wine of more complexity.
El Viejo del Valle Pinot Noir
Chile
Sourced from a small Hacienda in
The Andes where the 40-60 yeaar
old vines enjoy stony soils, glacial
streams and pure mountain air,
resulting in a wonderful Pinot Noir,
full of summer fruits of redcurrant,
raspberry and wild strawberries
whilst a touch of oak adds spicy
complexity. Enjoy with marinated
ribs, pink lamb and roasted veggies.
White Wine Day
National White Wine Day is one of our favourite
days of the year. The versatility in styles across
the white wine category is truly fascinating,
exciting and a never-ending educational
journey.
Nearly all grape varieties in the world, regardless of
their skin colour, have clear juice, which means you
can make a white wine with most grape varieties.
There are thousands of grape varieties, however the
most popular white wine grapes that are planted
throughout the world are Chardonnay, Sauvignon
Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Gris and Chenin Blanc.
With these 5x grape varieties, you can taste a wide
spectrum of what white wine really has to offer!
Whether you like light and refreshing wines from
Pinot Grigio; or aromatic wines made from Riesling or
Sauvignon Blanc; to rich and full-bodied wines made
famous by Chardonnay, and South African Chenin
Blanc. We believe there is a white wine for everyone.
Happy Tasting!
Whilst Champagne is home to the most celebrated
sparkling wines throughout the world, Prosecco
from Veneto in Northern Italy has carved an evergrowing
reputation for more affordable, every day
drinking sparklers. As with all wines, it's all about
the quality of the raw material and with Prosecco
becoming such a commodity, it is essential to seek
out the wines that use the best quality grapes - if
you start with grapes that are under par then the
resulting wine won't be much better!
Parma Ham & Cantaloupe Melon Recipe
Aperol Spritz Recipe
An organic Prosecco from Italy's famed northeastern
region of Veneto. Notes of peach and green
apple are complimented by wonderfully creamy
bubbles and subtle hints of acacia and rose. The
classic food and wine match of 'if it grows together,
it goes with it' screams out here! Parma ham, from
the northern region of Emilia-Romagna, home to
the town of Parma, is a match made in heaven. The
saltiness of the ham is offset by the sweetness of the
melon; the wine cuts through the ham beautifully
whilst working in harmony with the melon.
International
Pinot Noir Day
With its heartland in Burgundy, Pinot Noir is
the sole grape used in the production of the
regions famed red wines (with the exception of
Beaujolais where Gamay takes centre stage). It
has also made a name for itself in New Zealand
and Chile, South Africa as well as on our own
shores, not forgetting its important role in
Champagne where it is one of three permitted
grape varieties and adds depth, backbone and
complexity to the blend.
Named after the French for pine and black, making
reference to its small, pine-cone shape bunches, Pinot
Noir is often refered to as the heart-break grape as
it is incredibly tricky to grow and is susceptible to a
variety of diseases. When it does thrive, it is sublime,
with its wonderful power of seduction as it moves
from raspberry and cherry notes in youth to gamey
and earthy aromas as it ages.
perfect pairing...
One of our selected Pinot Noir's is made to
accompany tuna in a soy, sherry, garlic and
ginger marinade.
International
Cabernet Day
Famously being a key grape in Bordeaux red wine, Cabernet Sauvignon is also found in nearly
every major wine producing country around the world. Characteristically, "Cab Sav" is big, bold
and fruity. Cabernet Sauvignon is a great grape for ageing, due to its good tannic structure, high
acidity and fruit content.
When Cabernet ages, we get developed flavours of cedar, baking spices and tobacco; flavours which are
sought after when looking at the top end of a wine list. Three wines chosen to showcase the fruity, bold
characteristics of "Cab Sav", with a couple of the wines highlighting what's possible when we age, blend or
mature in oak barrels.
