#149 • JUNE 21 TO JULY 12, 2024 The Word on the Street Haddonfield’s 30th annual Crafts and Fine Art Festival will be held downtown on Sat Jul 13 and Sun Jul 14. haddonfield.today | 3 If you were an artist or crafter with a booth at the Festival, what would you sell, and why? As the mother of a young child, KATHLEEN SOLOMON would put her maternal motivations to work selling “kid-related crafts to parents and grandparents.” For example? “Foot prints and hand prints on canvas – to hang on the wall.” Cute! ALYSSA SWEENEY of Stratford is a movie buff. “I’d make and sell large posters and tapestries based on movie themes,” she says. “You know .... collages.” MATTHEW BASS of Haddonfield, who teaches in a Camden public school, would craft classroom aids to help students organize their “stuff.” “I think there would be a market for that,” he says. A few years ago, MOHAMMAD NADEEM of Blackwood bought a “beautiful silver ring” at a farmers market. That turned him on to silver jewelery. “So that’s what I’d make and sell.” Haddonfield’s AJ SOLOMON would offer to write haiku on the spot for and about passers-by. “I’d use parchment and hand- cut goose quills dipped in India ink,” he says. “Three dollars a pop!” An avid golfer, DENISE AMONS of Haddonfield imagines she might make sculptures from golf balls she would retrieve from water hazards. “There’s a virtually unlimited supply of raw materials,” she says. “And it’s free!”
