COURSE<br />

OBJECTIVE<br />

The aim <strong>of</strong> this course is to provide essential<br />

<strong>and</strong> current theoretical <strong>and</strong> practical<br />

knowledge for the successful management <strong>of</strong><br />

the most common emergencies presented in<br />

veterinary clinics. The course is intended to<br />

establish a solid, scientific, <strong>and</strong> evidencebased<br />

found<strong>at</strong>ion on physiop<strong>at</strong>hology,<br />

management, <strong>and</strong> tre<strong>at</strong>ment <strong>of</strong> emergency<br />

situ<strong>at</strong>ions in dogs <strong>and</strong> c<strong>at</strong>s, with practical<br />

applicability.<br />

STRUCTURE<br />

AND BENEFITS<br />

The postgradu<strong>at</strong>e program comprises<br />

modules with theoretical-practical lectures<br />

on the p<strong>at</strong>hophysiology <strong>and</strong> management <strong>of</strong><br />

common emergency situ<strong>at</strong>ions. Each<br />

module will be taught by one or several<br />

specialists to ensure the highest quality<br />

training.<br />

At the end <strong>of</strong> each module, students will<br />

gain comprehensive insight into the clinical<br />

present<strong>at</strong>ion, diagnosis, tre<strong>at</strong>ment, <strong>and</strong><br />

prognosis <strong>of</strong> emergency <strong>and</strong> critical care<br />

cases. They will be capable <strong>of</strong> conducting a<br />

complete emergency assessment, triage,<br />

<strong>and</strong> examin<strong>at</strong>ion, establishing a<br />

comprehensive problem list, making a<br />

differential diagnosis, <strong>and</strong> planning<br />

appropri<strong>at</strong>e diagnostics <strong>and</strong> tre<strong>at</strong>ment<br />

procedures. Moreover, they will have<br />

opportunities to ask questions, discuss<br />

practical aspects <strong>of</strong> emergency situ<strong>at</strong>ions,<br />

<strong>and</strong> interact with experienced clinicians.<br />

TARGET AUDIENCE<br />

Designed for pr<strong>of</strong>essionals working in first opinion, out-<strong>of</strong>-hours, emergency clinics, or<br />

gradu<strong>at</strong>es seeking to further specialise in emergency medicine or gain additional<br />

knowledge for an internship or residency. It is aimed <strong>at</strong> veterinarians who wish to<br />

deepen their expertise in this specialty, upd<strong>at</strong>e their skills, <strong>and</strong> learn innov<strong>at</strong>ive<br />

aspects applicable to daily practice.<br />
