I’m sure there have been times
when you felt like you were fighting
a battle all alone. You didn’t know
which way to turn or if you’d ever
get out. Sometimes you just needed
a good cry. I’m so thankful that God
is always there for His people.
One of the first songs I wrote was
“Cry out to Jesus”. In one of the
verses it says, “Jesus made a way for
your distress to call upon the Master
and there you’ll find such rest. He
cares and understands. Our failures
are successes in his hands.” The
chorus says to cry when your heart
is breaking and when you can’t see

God has a wonderful promise in
Isaiah 46:4 that says: “Even to your
old age and gray hairs I am he, I am
he who will sustain you. I have made
you and I will carry you; I will
sustain you and I will rescue you.”
Just like the crying child,
sometimes we don’t need a
solution; we just need to cry it out.
Our Heavenly Father is always
there, watching and waiting for the
opportunity to hold His children.
Be blessed and know you’re not too
old to cry it out.

Reflections from
Mayberry

T
his is the month we honor and
celebrate our Fathers. I would like to
share some memories of my Daddy
with you. Robert Rufus Bledsoe was
born on August 10, 1922 into a
family of 12 older brothers and
sisters. He grew up in the era of the
Great Depression. He was raised on
a small farm and learned to work
hard at a very young age and do
without many things he and his
family needed.
He and Mom met and were married
at the young ages of 16 and 17. They
worked hard on the farm and then
ten years later my sister Vickie was
born in 1950 and I came along in
1960.
I was a true Daddy’s girl. Whatever
he was doing I was tagging along
right behind him and he never
seemed to mind. We lived on a farm
in the foothills of the Blue Ridge
Mountains in North Carolina. Daddy
was a farmer and also worked in a
factory. He brought us up to work
hard, love God, and as soon as my
sister and I could talk Daddy and
Mama taught us to sing. Our family
traveled all over NC singing as The
Bledsoe Family and when i was 5
years old daddy answered the call to
preach. we continued to travel and
sing and Daddy would preach after
we sang. Then in 1969 he founded
Welcome View Baptist Church and
was pastor there for 11 years. After
pastoring Welcome View, Daddy
started doing a radio program every
week at a Country station in our
hometown of Dobson, NC. After
being there a year, Daddy asked the
owner of the station if he would
consider changing the format of the
station from Country music to
totally Gospel music. At first the
owner was not in agreement to that,
but Daddy kept praying and growing
his listeners and finally the owner
told him if he could get 1000
signatures from locals that wanted
the station to become a full time
Gospel station, he would allow it to
be changed to a Gospel station.

Evidently he did not know my
Daddy like I did. Less than a month
later, Daddy presented the owner
with a petition with over 1000
signatures. I am proud to say it
still remains a 24 hour Gospel
station today.
Daddy always taught us to fight
for what we believe in. We as
Christians sure would benefit if we
would follow that rule today. Do I
believe in causing trouble… no,
but if we do not start standing up
for our morals and beliefs our
children and our country are going
to suffer.
If you still are blessed to have your
Dad, thank him for every sacrifice
he made for you. Thank him for the
little things and let him know they
were big things in your eyes. Spend
time with him and never forget that
Dads love to hear “I love you” just
as much as Moms do. Love the
people God gave you because one
day He will want them back.

stand up and stand firm on what
the Bible says. Thank you for your
hard work, prayers, and never
ending love. You taught us well
and we are trying our best to stand
up and stand firm on what we
believe. We love and miss you SO
much but are thankful for the
promise that we will all be back
together, forever soon!

The Bibletones

he Bibletones Quartet was
formed in 1957 by Mr. and Mrs.
Ward Hurt, in Lumberton,
Mississippi. Hurt was born and
raised in North Alabama and
actively sang in quartets, including
the group, the Sand Mountain
Quartet. In the late 1940’s, Hurt and
his wife moved to south Mississippi,
where he established the
Bibletones, with the vision to create
a singing ministry group. In the
early 1980’s, Hurt retired from the
Bibletones and the leadership went
to Howard Rutland and Paul Vinson,
members of the group. Paul Vinson
left the group in the mid 80’s to
sing with the Dixie Echoes.
The Bibletones has achieved many
accomplishments during its
existence including the recordings
of more than forty projects, such as
videos, television programs and a
weekly show in Tampa, hosted by
singer, songwriter and minister, The
Late Vep Ellis. The group has
appeared on the Gospel Singing
Jubilee, Grand Ole Opry, The
National Quartet Convention, as
well as promoted gospel concerts
in South Mississippi.
In the last 66 years, the Bibletones
has hosted more than 75 members,
each one of them performing with
unique talent. Some of the earlier
members include: Paul Vinson
(Dixie Echoes), Mark Flaker (Florida
Boys), Tommy Atwood (Florida
Boys), Billy Todd (Florida Boys),
William Pippen (Naomi & the
Segos), Craig Pippin (Dixie Echoes),
Vaughn Thacker (Dixie Echoes),
Pete Pitts (Naomi & the Segos),
Tommy Randall (Plainsmen) Mark
Lanier (Poet Voice), and Chris
Bryant (The KIngsmen).
The Bibletones currently consist of
Jack Armstrong (Baritone
/Manager). Jack has been the
owner of the Bibletones since
2015, however this is not his first

time as a member as he traveled with
the group back in the 1980s. “It’s not
only a thrill, but an honor to carry on the
legacy that the group has made for over
60 years” Jack makes his home in
Ellisville, Mississippi along with his wife
Vonda. Danny Jackson Jr sings Tenor for
the Quartet and is no stranger to
southern gospel music. He is a former
member of The Steeles, and currently
on his “Second Tour of Duty” with The
Bibletones. He makes his home in
Purvis, Mississippi along with his wife
Shelia and their son Danny Jackson III.
Charley Lucas sings the bass part for the
group. He and his wife Michele make
their home in Ruleville, Mississippi with
their twin daughters Kolby and Kenley.
Nathaniel Chapman is the Lead Singer
for the group. He has sung with groups
such as Kings Harmony and The
Anchormen as well as filling in with

various others. Nathaniel grew up
in the hills of West Virginia but now
makes his home in Ellisville,
Mississippi with his Wife Kayla and
daughter Ava Joyce.
The Bibletones Quartet performs
primarily in the Southeastern U.S.,
with occasional dates in the
Midwest and Northeast. “The Lord
has blessed this ministry and
allowed it to grow for the past 66
years. I hope and pray that this
group will continue for another 50
years,”. Their current radio release
is from their new project, "New
Beginnings". Be sure to request

John 8:31-32 says, “If you hold to
my teaching, you are really my
disciples. Then you will know the
truth and the truth will set you
free.” Jesus is the truth; real
freedom is eternal life. Only Jesus
can free us from the bondage of
sin and lead us into the freedom of
eternal life with Him. “So if the Son
sets you free, you will be free
indeed” (John 8:36).

Jesus does not give us freedom to
do as we wish while present on
Earth, but the freedom to follow
God’s will. As we seek God’s
perfect will for our lives, His
perfect truth frees us of our own
self-deceptions as well as Satan’s
evil devices. Having a relationship
with Jesus is freedom!

Timothy Kinchen, known as Tim, achievements. In 2020, they were

Grateful for the support and guidance,

their paths.
Their music carries a unique flair,
a little jazzy with southern gospel,
giving each track its own soulful
touch. Away from singing, Missy is a
Nurse. She finds joy in spending
time with her grandson Kolsen. Tim
works for Livingston Parish
Assessors Office. He cherishes time
with his grandson and loves the thrill
of fishing. Living in a sportsman's
paradise adds an extra layer of
charm to their outdoor adventures.
