Wide-ranging meeting with PO
The NFSP and Voice of the Postmaster (VotP) met
with Post Office Ltd (PO) last month and had a very
constructive and pragmatic discussion on issues that are
of intrinsic concern to postmasters.
Topics covered included an update on the NBIT
programme development, how governance of PO can
be improved to enable postmasters as investors in the
business to enjoy a greater partnership relationship with
PO, how we can improve representation, enable greater
awareness of and provide vital wellbeing support to
postmasters across the country and, of course,
postmasters’ remuneration.
What was encouraging was just how much in
agreement on these important issues the NFSP, VotP
and PO are.
Sadly, whilst the Communication Workers Union were
invited, they decided not to attend.
The aim over the coming weeks will be to meet with
PO further to work together to develop improved
governance and structure wellbeing support.

effectiveness.

The NFSP wrote to the Post Office
Ltd (PO) Board at the beginning of
May following events in the Horizon
Inquiry.
We highlighted how employees of
PO in the past were part of the
obfuscation of truth in relation to the
accuracy and reliability of the
Horizon system yet remain
employees of PO today.
We are growing increasingly
concerned that we keep having to
deal with these individuals and ask
whether they should remain in the
employment of PO.
The NFSP wants to discuss the
seriousness of the situation further
with the Board of PO.
Phases 5 and 6 of the Inquiry run
until the closing statements are
made on Friday 26 July.

Benevolence would like to thank
delegates at the NFSP Annual
Conference for their donations to the
NFSP Benevolent Fund.
In total, £2,528 was raised through
the raffle. This is in addition to the
£3,742 in donations received
between 1 June 2023 and 31 May
2024. Thank-you also to the Regions
who hold raffles, individual
donations, those who have collection
boxes on their counters and all the
members for their kind donations
through remuneration each month.

certificate after

Syed receives recognition
Syed Mushtaq Haider Jafri was awarded a Certificate of
Appreciation after retiring as postmaster of Norbury Post Office in
February. Syed was presented with the award in front of his staff
by Regional Manager Manish Mehta and Area Manager Cristina
Scaramella.
