Conference 2024
Postmasters spoke positively about this year’s Annual Conference with
the Your Questions segment a particular highlight from the two days.
This year’s theme was Shaping Your Future and numerous discussions
were held around the Post Office brand, the culture in the post office
network, the future strategy of the network and much more.
Both new attendees and regular delegates spoke to the NFSP about
how they found this year’s event and how the post office network can
move forward in the future.
Zaf
Rushnaiwala:
“My first
Conference
was really
informative, and it was
really good for postmasters
who attended for the first
time.
“There was a lot of
insight through the
speakers and also the
Question & Answer time,
plus the opportunity to
network with fellow
postmasters was great.”
Dhaval
Gosaliya:
“It was good.
You only get
the chance
once a year to see all your
colleagues and fellow
members and to get to see
what’s going on within the
business, challenges Post
Office Ltd (PO) and
postmasters face, whilst
also challenging the PO,
the Government and the
NFSP.
“We have to work
together with PO, the
Government and with the
NFSP to make sure we
have a bright future.”
Alison De
Lara:
“I really
enjoyed it. I’ve
got a lot out of
it, met lots of fellow
postmasters, done a lot of
networking and it’s been
very useful.”
Andrew
Phipson:
“I took a lot
out of it.
“I loved the
new Question Time format,
and we had the
opportunity to ask
important questions to not
only (PO Chief Executive)
Nick Read but also the
Postal Affairs Minister
Kevin Hollinrake about the
future of the network and
the long-term planning
about where PO is going.
“The current focus is on
the (Horizon) Inquiry which
is only right for that to
come to a conclusion later
on this year.
“But the questioning
should be around the
future of the network
moving forward and how
that affects postmasters.”
Paul Money:
“I found the
Conference
excellent. It
was good to
catch up with a load of
colleagues I hadn’t seen
for a while and also get to
the bottom of some of the
issues regarding
remuneration, how our
culture needs to alter or
not and also to hear other
people’s comments on
what is happening in the
network.”
Tim Allen:
“It was a really
interesting
Conference at
a good venue,
and I especially enjoyed
the Q&A debate.
“The retail event was
great. There was a nice mix
of products from gift card
suppliers to banks, and I
met suppliers who I don’t
use but could add value to
my business. It was also
good to see the NBIT
terminal as it gave us the
chance to ask some
questions about it.”
Ying Shi:
“It was
absolutely
brilliant. I got
a new supplier
from the Retail Event and
also met fellow
postmasters who I
exchanged ideas with.
“I really enjoyed it, and it
was at a lovely location.”
Dipesh
Modha:
“I want to be a
better
postmaster; I
want to be a better retailer
and a better businessman.
“I want to get those skills
from here to improve a bit
and to then use those skills
to apply to my business.”
Jon
Follenfant:
“The new
format was
refreshing,
and the Q&A
went very well. It was good
to have somebody
independent outside of PO
and the Minister to
actually take questions
and to reflect on what
happens in other
organisations.
“While we have to help
everybody involved in the
past, we really do need to
think about the future,
where PO is going, and
where we’re going to make
our money in the future.”
