This edition, we review a few of the leading
key safes – those bits of kit where you store
your car keys before heading out for surf.
While neither in our opinion are comparable to the
original Surf Lock, which was near indestructible
thanks to its full metal construction (I must have
dropped mine more than a hundred times
without any form of damage and it lasted for
close to a decade), the modern rendition is
significantly cheaper. The question remains
whether these ones will stand the same test
of time.

Verdict
Both the FCS and Far King features are similar. The Far King iteration is on
average $5 cheaper. Having bought one of each a few months back, I would
say for $5 extra, I would go the FCS. The key safe just seems more robust.
The Far King combination cover has already starting sliding under the
casing, which is a pain in the arse, and the plastic cover seems flimsy.
