Fiat 1500 6c Sport Spider (1937)<br />
This is the original vintage car that has been refurbished at a<br />
later time.<br />
- 1937 Year of Construction - in Fiat 1500 6c sedan Version<br />
- 1948 Transformation into Barchetta<br />
The refurbish can be dated between 1946 and 1954.<br />
At that time, in the used car market it was particularly popular<br />
to transform and refit cars that were still in good condition but<br />
no longer desirable due to the postwar aesthetic/stylistic changes<br />
that had taken place into models that were still usable.<br />
Transformations have involved those vehicles both in pickup<br />
truck realizations and in competition vehicles capable of<br />
participating in competitive events in Italy and abroad.<br />
As for the execution of the refurbish, this would turn out to have<br />
been carried out by the hand-crafted coachbuilder Carrozzeria<br />
Colli based on a Touring design. It should be noted that<br />
Carrozzeria Colli was based in Milan on Viale Certosa, thus not<br />
far from Via Ludovico da Breme, the headquarters of Carrozzeria<br />
Touring.<br />
It is also important to remember that Carrozzeria Touring was<br />
making in those years prestigious models in small series, and<br />
was also starting the production of the Alfa Romeo 1900 Sprint;<br />
therefore, it is plausible that it had directed certain types of work<br />
to other coachbuilders (as, by the way, was customary even in<br />
Turin among the various coachbuilders.)<br />
The “Colli” body shop, as is well known and documented, has<br />
performed several refurbishment of cars from touring to sports<br />
versions.<br />
Regarding the documentation of the Touring archive, we have<br />
in our possession the engineering drawings of the car: upon<br />
analysis of what is indicated with additional documentation in<br />
our possession, the car is believed to be classified as “Fiat 1500<br />
6c refurbished by Carrozzaria Colli, and by design, in Barchetta<br />
Spider version, by Carrozzeria Touring.”<br />
