Joyce Kroeker
May 10 th , 1934 ~ May 23 rd , 2024
Joyce’s love of life didn’t come to an end with her death
as we will always remember the life she lived and loved.
Joyce found much happiness in all she did from her
hobbies and activities to sharing time with her family
and friends. Joyce was a soft-spoken powerhouse with a
pleasant personality and a kind voice.
Joyce passed away peacefully on May 23 rd with her loving family by her
side. She is survived by daughter Jill and husband Steve, her son Jeff and
new wife Debbie, three grandchildren and many great grandchildren
who she loved and adored. As well, she is also survived by countless
friends, many from Central Valley Corvettes, who consider her ‘family’.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ed and is now happily
reunited with him ‘making memories’ in heaven.
Joyce and Ed started their business together in 1970 and worked sideby-side
out of their home which consisted of a shop, 2 acres, one small
tractor and a disc. In 1979 they borrowed enough money to purchase a
dump truck, a small crawler tractor and a trailer and they continued to
operate ‘Kroeker Custom Tractor service’ grading lots. When the
business became more successful, they purchase 20 acres on the south
edge of town where their current business is now and has grown into 47
acres of utilized land. Kroeker, Inc. (as it is now known) was licensed and
incorporated in 1991 and today the thriving family run company has
grown to include demolition, recycling, roll-off service, concrete sawing
and coring/crushing services and do business over many western states.
Joyce and Ed joined CVC in 1995 and many have had the pleasure to have
known them since then. Ed was affectionally termed “fast Eddie” and he
was quit the jokester. David and I joined the same year and we were
instantly drawn to their kind demeanor. We were ‘family’ from day one
and I know many others felt the same way. That first year they became
CVC members, they hosted an Independence Day Celebration at their
yard which CVC members later renamed “Kroekerville”. We honored
them by making a plaque where it is still proudly hung today. The
Kroeker’s opened up their beautiful company grounds to us to enjoy for
the annual CVC picnic as well as other events. Many of us called Joyce

“Mama Kroeker” because of her sweet loving ways and it was easy to
gravitate to her motherly kindness. She will always be treasured as a
true matriarch.
Joyce unfortunately was not able to attend the annual picnic this year
due to her health but we got to celebrate her 90 th birthday by doing a
happy birthday video in her honor. Jill said she was so happy when she
replayed it for her at the hospital later that day.
At the 2024 annual picnic CVC dedicated a rose tree and plaque to honor
her as an “exceptional member’ of CVC. We highlighted and appreciated
her for the substantial impact she had on our club.
Joyce’s slogan in life was “Make Memories, not Wishes” and that is how
she lived her life. She wanted everyone to have a fun filled life full of
adventures and she was always heard saying ‘making memories’
whenever she heard a person talk about a trip or doing something
fun. Joyce tells the story of why she believed this saying “my mother told
me that it’s better to do something and make a memory because if you
don’t, you’ll wish you had”.
We should all learn from her words of wisdom. If we choose to
acknowledge that each moment of each and every day is like a ‘present’
to be unwrapped it makes each moment more special. We have no
guarantee that tomorrow will come and today just may be our last gift to
appreciate and cherish so we must treasure it!
It was a great pleasure to call Joyce a friend and I know we will all miss
her tremendously. ’Mama Joyce’ will definitely hold a special place in our
hearts and we should all have comfort knowing we made fond memories
right alongside her. She loved her Corvettes and her Corvette family and
we loved her back.
Thank you, Joyce, for being our friend. We are forever grateful for the
impact you had on each of us.
Although death is part of life there is no way around the heartbreak and
grief it brings. The only comfort we have is knowing that our cherished
Joyce is now with our God in heaven with a full heart and an external
soul.
Love, your Dear Friends Forever

IN HEAVEN

President's message
If you missed it, we had a great meeting in May.
We voted on two new couples and had several guests who are also in the process of
membership.
The Clovis Rodeo Parade honored our club with their top award for the theme this year.
"Heroes among us". Many thanks to Diane for supplying the signage used on our cars and to
Charlie for getting us involved and into the spirit of the theme. Along with all the praise, we are
receiving a monetary award. What an honor!
There was a surprise award given at the meeting to Frank and Dana for their run to Laughlin. It
was Frank's first time leading a run and he earned the first not so coveted U-Turn award.
Thanks to Jimmy for coming up with the idea creating the trophy, and giving Frank and all of us
a good laugh. Frank is now the first honoree of this trophy. We'll see if it gets passed on to
others in the future.
Some new business discussed was the temporary change of venue for our meetings. This will be
necessary for maybe August through October due to construction at Club One. We will
probably meet at Yosemite Falls during that time. There will be more on this as we get updates
from Club One.
Remember, don't arrive for our monthly meetings until 5 P.M. You should have enough time to
socialize and order dinner before the meeting starts.
On a very sad note, we have been notified of our beloved Joyce Kroeker's passing today. She
will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. Please keep the Kroeker family in your
prayers.
The next meeting is June 17,2024, starting at 6:30 P.M.
Your President,
Lynne Henenfent
