A very warm welcome to Broadwood Stadium to what is

the 136th Scottish Junior Cup Final.

The road to the Final of the fourth oldest

cup still played for in world football started

back in August for 114 clubs and reaches it’s

climax this afternoon with Darvel and

Arthurlie.

The added reward for today’s winners is a

place in next season’s Scottish Cup along

with our SFA licenced clubs. Everyone

watched Darvel on TV as they beat Aberdeen

a couple of seasons ago, they’ll be dreaming

of another chance next season & Arthurlie

will be dreaming of their first visit into the

senior Scottish Cup competition.

Football at our level is all about the

communities, and it’s great to see the

communities of Barrhead and the Irvine

valley getting right behind their clubs in

their plans for this final. Open days, parties,

bunting in each town centres and big sendoffs

for the buses heading to Broadwood is

just what we want to be seeing. Well done

to the organisers.

Need to thank a number of people for their

help this season.

The match sponsors today are Clydebuilt

Home Improvements, and we thank them for

their ongoing support for another year. Their

commitment to the association has been

very gratefully received in the last few

seasons and we hope they enjoy the day as

our guests again.

I would also like to thank OnlySport for their

support once again. As well as their financial

support, their sponsorship of the exit draw

in every round of the Cup benefits the teams

directly to the tune of £500 each and is very

much appreciated by the recipients.

Indigo Verified Communications are a new

sponsor of the competition this year, but

they are a business and people that I know

well. They are a great support to football at

our level and hopefully this season is just

the start of a fruitful partnership.

Thanks also go to BBC Alba who not only

financially contribute to the competition but

offers those unable to attend the ability to

watch at home, keeping the Scottish Junior

Cup Final that bit more special.

We have a new Charity Partner in Libby &

her team at Back Onside, who do some

fantastic work with players and clubs all

across Scottish football. A wonderful charity

that deserves far more support and funding

than it currently gets.

Thanks go to the team at Broadwood for

helping us make our first final here last year

such a success, and for the smooth planning

of this year’s event. North Lanarkshire

Council deserve a lot of credit for

acknowledging everyone’s preference in a

Sunday afternoon final & accommodating the

dates.

It would be remiss of me not to mention our

own committee of President Bobby

MacNamara, Vice-President Clark Nicol and

Assistant Secretary Kennie Young who have

ensured the smooth running of the

competition. I would also like to thank John

Reilly and Chris Auton for all their continued

help.

Finally, I just want to wish both teams,

Darvel and Arthurlie, all the very best on

Sunday. Look forward to it being a great day

at Broadwood and everybody having an

enjoyable final.

“Thanks to everyone

for your continued

support, all the best

guys”
