Good afternoon and welcome to Broadwood Stadium,

Cumbernauld for today’s Season 2023–24 Clydebuilt

Home Improvements Scottish Junior Cup Final between

Arthurlie FC and Darvel FC.

It is a great honour for myself, on behalf

of the Association to welcome the Players,

Management and Committees of both

great Clubs, but more importantly to you,

the supporters from Barrhead and Darvel

today and hope this will provide an

exciting conclusion to the Season for all.

I would like to thank our sponsor of this

years’ tournament, Clydebuilt Home

Improvements and to Only Sport who

sponsor this season's Team of the Round

for their continued financial support of the

competition this season. This has allowed

the Scottish Junior Football Association to

provide the largest prize money and

increased incentives to the Trophy’s

competitors in all of Scottish Non-League

Football.

The tournament continues to be enhanced

by BBC Alba who will again provide the

live television coverage to the footballing

nation for those unable to attend in

person today and we are now in the

second year of our five deal with our

media hosts to continue and strengthen

our partnership with them.

The Scottish Junior FA would also thank

North Lanarkshire Council and N.L. Active

for their help in organising and providing

the host venue for today’s Final as we also

enter the second year of our venue

partnership and to the many others who

have contributed to the tournament.

On a personal note, I would like to express

my appreciation to Alex McDowall our

Chief Operating Officer, our Assistant

Secretary Kennie Young and John Fyfe,

Treasurer, our administration staff and the

Management Committee of the Scottish

Junior Football Association in getting us to

this stage of the Competition successfully.

to bring the National Trophy to the Irvine

Valley for the first time, the best of luck

this afternoon and hope for a thrilling and

sporting match from both sides.

As the competition enters its 138 th Year

being the 5th Oldest National Trophy in

the World, the competition continues to

retain its historic significance for the

communities in Scotland with a

contemporary financial benefit for the

Clubs participating.

“Enjoy the game!”
