LOCAL NEWS Milestone for Million Paws Walk Hundreds of dogs will be at Sydney Olympic Park for the Million Paws Walk this Sunday. ELLIE BUSBY The RSPCA is celebrating the 30th year of the Million Paws Walk, with the annual walk to fight animal cruelty returning to Sydney Olympic Park. On Sunday, May 26, hundreds of furry friends are expected to pound the pavement at Cathy Freeman Park to raise vital funds to help to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome animals in need. Over the past three decades, more than 750,000 people and 400,000 dogs have participated in the RSPCA Million Paws Walk event, which has helped to give over 100,000 animals a second chance at life. RSPCA NSW Community Fundraising Manager Ben Wilheim thanked everyone who has been part of the Million Paws Walk journey over the past 30 years. “The RSPCA Million Paws Walk has evolved from a local gathering to a nationwide phenomenon with thousands of people and their pets uniting under one common cause: to improve the lives of animals in need,” Wilheim said. “This year, the event will be bigger than ever with food, drinks, various stalls, music, raffles, games, competitions, and much more family fun as we celebrate this milestone together.” Starting at 10am, participants will have the option of either a 2km or 4km walk.
