Civic Park and Pendle Hill<br />

Wetland Improvement Project<br />

Council is gearing up for the Grand Opening of Civic Park in<br />

Pendle Hill this Thursday at 9:30am. The event will include a<br />

special plaque unveiling and ribbon cutting ceremony, where<br />

residents, community members and visitors can explore and enjoy the<br />

park's exciting new features. The upgraded park now features a new<br />

inclusive and accessible nature play space, outdoor fitness zone, table<br />

tennis, picnic areas, a half-court basketball court, new amenities and more.<br />

The project, valued over $17.5 million, has been jointly funded by the<br />

NSW Government’s Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program in<br />

Roads Renewals<br />

Council has recently completed road renewals at Macklin Street in<br />

Pendle Hill and Thames Street in Merrylands West where over 500m<br />

of road in total was resurfaced and new asphalt was laid.<br />

Back to Guildford Festival<br />

This weekend, we invite you to explore the new Guildford Laneway at our<br />

FREE family friendly event, Back to Guildford Festival. Come along and<br />

enjoy the live music, roving performances, children’s games and activities,<br />

as well as a huge range of eateries, food and market vendors. There will<br />

also be a new public art mural to discover and streetscape upgrades<br />

including tables and benches, installation of smart technology, lighting,<br />

CCTV cameras and mobile phone charging stations. The upgrades are<br />

part of the Safer Cities: Her Way Program designed to improve safety<br />

Federal Budget <strong>2024</strong>-2025<br />

I was pleased to see the Federal Budget include some support for those<br />

in need, including an increase in Commonwealth Rent Assistance, changes<br />

to stage 3 tax cuts and from July 1 all Australian households will receive a<br />

$300 energy bill rebate. Tertiary students will also receive some relief with<br />

a change to the rate of indexation. Paid Parental Leave will also increase<br />

to 22 weeks from 1 July <strong>2024</strong>. If you are facing difficulties, don't struggle alone.<br />

Getting Women Elected Forum<br />

Join us at the Australian Local Government Women's Associations's<br />

(ALGWA) ‘Getting Women Elected Forum’ hosted by Council, dedicated<br />

to empowering women interested in running for election to Council in the<br />

September <strong>2024</strong> Local Government elections.<br />

National Volunteer Week<br />

To celebrate National Volunteer Week, Council is recognising the<br />

vital work of our volunteers who contribute to initiatives and services<br />

including; children and youth, seniors and disability, education and<br />

Watchful Eyes Supervise:<br />

Keep Children Safe Campaign<br />

Council is encouraging parents to be mindful of<br />

supervising their children at Council’s Community<br />

Centres, Libraries, Swim Centre programs and<br />

events. Council is also reminding parents that<br />

children under 15 years cannot attend Council<br />

Swim Centres without adult supervision and<br />

children under 12 years need an adult to<br />

attend one of Council’s Libraries.<br />
