Minter, an American
in London, hails
from a padel family
with direct links back
to the game’s
founder Enrique
Corcuera. Dennis
is a self-confessed
padel nut who digs
out padel movers,
shakers and players
to speak with.
High five to residents living near
Hartford Golf Club in Northwich, Cheshire,
who have thrown their support behind the
club’s plans for padel courts. No moans
about traffic, noisy balls or even noisier
players for these neighbours. Instead they
can’t wait for the courts to open, describing
padel as ‘thrilling’, ‘excellent’ and ‘brilliant’
in comments to planners. Our favourite
comment is just eight words:
“Unsure to why this would be a debate.”

Lawyers court padel
with UK first
Legal eagles are combining their love of law with a
passion for padel in what is believed to be the UK’s first
dedicated one-stop-shop legal team for the game.
Law firm JMW, which has offices in London, Manchester and Liverpool,
has united specialists from its real estate, IP, corporate, commercial
and employment sectors to form an expert padel team dedicated
to assisting clients keen to build courts and open clubs.
The move was the brainchild of JMW managing partner (and padel
fanatic) Marc Yaffe who, after discussing the exponential growth of
the sport with a business colleague post-match, identified the need
for an integrated approach to advising padel clients.
Already the team has almost 40 projects on its books, with particular
demand for guidance on real estate issues.
Marc said: “The key element of our offering isn’t just legal expertise
but our determination and desire to work together across multiple
specialisms with the aim of delivering a fast, effective and
specialised service.”
