Padel Aid’s
new PRO-AM
fundraiser
Former Chelsea FC captain and
now avid padel fan John Terry led
the celeb charge at Padel Aid’s first
PRO-AM tournament.
A host of well-known names, including rugby
player Jason Leonard, Beta Squad’s Sharky
and Sky Sports’ Sarah Stirk, joined GB padel
players including Christian Murphy, Sam
Jones and Nikhil Mohindra at the event,
which raised money for UNICEF.
Padel Aid is the brainchild of GB pro padel
players Frankie Langan and Nikhil. Frankie
told The Bandeja: “In setting up Padel Aid
we hope to raise the profile of padel in the
UK and around the world, and in the process
raise funds for an incredibly worthy cause,
UNICEF. We want to encourage as many
people as possible to try padel, especially
the younger generations as it can have a
huge positive impact on their physical and
mental well-being.”
The event was set to raise in excess
of £15,000 thanks to Padel Galis’s donation
of a state-of-the-art padel court for
a silent auction.
Babolat’s
first junior
signing
Babolat has announced sponsorship of Oliver
Hayday, a multi-lingual young player who took up
padel when Covid restrictions were lifted in Spain.
The 16-year-old, born and raised in
Malaga to a Swedish mother and
English father, relocated with his
family to the UK (Tiptree, Essex) just
under two years ago and has been
making his mark on the GB game
ever since.
So far he has clinched junior titles
as well as Grade 3 & 4 wins and
a quarter final loss in a Grade
2 tournament despite being in
recovery from a badly broken
collarbone sustained just before
moving to the UK. He’s also on the
LTA youth development radar.
“I had never played any racket
sports previously but quickly loved
the speed, energy and skill of padel.
It wasn’t long before I was hooked,”
said Oliver, who trains weekly at
Stratford Padel Club in East London
and plays at Padel United
in Maldon.
He described feeling ‘pleased
and privileged’ to be partnering
with Babolat, especially given his
racket of choice is the Babolat
Technical Viper: “I started using
Babolat in Spain when my coach
at the time recommended the
Technical Viper would suit my
game. Ever since it is the only
racket I feel comfortable playing
with,” he said.

‘vital’ for the brand. “By supporting
young athletes like Oliver we can
help invest in the future of the
