Parashat Emor
Welcome to the B’nai Mitzvah of William, Annistyn, & Ryan Joslin.
Dear Family and Friends,
Welcome to Temple Adas Shalom and thank you for sharing this very special
occasion. Your presence adds to the joy of this extraordinary day in our lives as
our children, Annistyn Cate, William Lucas, and Ryan Michael become B’nai
Mitzvahs.
Becoming a B’nai Mitzvah symbolizes their coming of age, and the beginning of
their lives as fully participation Jewish adults. This special day marks enormous
growth and maturity and reflects many years of study and practice. This
celebration is so joyful for us because it honors Annie, William, and Ryan’s hard
work and accomplishments, and gives family and friends the opportunity to share
in this important milestone in their lives.
During the Saturday service, Annie, William, and Ryan will be called to read from
the Torah and they will lead the congregation in prayers. The Torah is the sacred
scroll containing the five books of the Old Testament. It is read each week by
Jews around the world as a guide and reminder to live a life based on Tikkun
Olam, repair of the world.
Annie, William, and Ryan, along with Rabbi Meeka Simerly, will guide you through
the service. When reading, we read from right to left as the Hebrew language
does. Some prayers are recited and read in English, but many are in Hebrew.
Transliteration (Hebrew phonetically written using English letters) and translation
are provided to add to your understanding of the service. Please feel free to read
along and join in song as we celebrate this joyous occasion.
We are honored and blessed to have family, friends, teachers, and temple
members here to celebrate one of the most important milestones in Annie,
William, and Ryan’s lives. We are incredibly proud of them.
Shabbat Shalom
Melissa and Philip Joslin
