Thursday, May 23, 5pm to 8pm Presented by Teacher honor › The first African- American teacher hired to work in an integrated setting in Haddonfield, and the first to receive tenure, will be honored at a ceremony near the Lincoln Ave entrance to the Middle School on Tue Jun 18 at 10am. Joyce Gilchrist Pierce taught in the Haddonfield School District from 1968 until her retirement in 2004. She began her career at Elizabeth Haddon School (2nd and 3rd grades), then transitioned to the Central and Middle Schools (language arts and world civilizations). All are welcome to attend the ceremony, which will be hosted by the Haddonfield Educational Trust. Junior tennis › The Haddonfield Tennis Association will conduct a six-week summer tennis camp for juniors on Tuesdays at the Tavistock Hills Swim Club. The program will begin on Tue Jun 18. Participants are encouraged to register early, as space is limited. The cost is $80. Class times are: Ages 6 to 9 – 6 to 7pm; ages 10 to 13 – 7 to 8 pm. The program is directed by Mitch Winkler. Mitch has been tennis director for the Haddonfield Tennis Association for over 20 years and was inducted into the Inaugural Class of the SJ Tennis Hall of Fame in 2021.
