We are thrilled to be finally be able to share with you the winners for this year’s big & much anticipated 2024 New Music

Awards. The volume of votes on our website was quite overwhelming and it just underscored how popular and effective our

New Music Weekly family has become. It has actually been a very satisfying and humbling experience. From the nomination

process to the final outcome, the NMW subscribers and music fans from all over the USA and around the world had a hand in

this process giving it the best possible outcome. We can only hope that some of your favorites made it into the winner’s circle.

A special congratulations to all of the NMA nominees and the winners.

Major label artists were felt loud and proud with the likes of Taylor Swift, Jack Harlow, Benson Boone among the pop

winners to name just a few. In Country we were thrilled to see that Chayce Beckham was lauded for his efforts. The artist who

first came to use from American Idol is actually from the Bakersfield, California area and it was so nice to see that he is finally

getting the recognition he so deserves. Jason Aldean was also in the winner’s circle thanks to his anthem “Try That In A Small

Town” that truly pulled at the heartstrings of America from coast to coast. What a run many of the above had.

Independent music artists abound when it came to the winner’s circle. From the likes of Jeremy Parsons, Eileen Carey,

John Jurney, Tommy Rice to Cabela & Schmitt to name a few, the support for the indie artists on-line was truly record

breaking. This was really the ability to showcase the level playing field at New Music Weekly that we have been talking about

since we first began our publication. Since that time, hundreds of independent artists and bands have been either winners or

nominees for our annual New Music Awards. We applaud all of them for their hard work and dedication.

Artists were not the only ones that have been honored for this years NMA Awards. If you take a look at the list of

honorees on our New Music Weekly website, you can see that numerous stations, music programmers and a solid list of

industry professionals have been singled out. This group is truly the backbone of our music industry. Many of the radio stations

and programmers singled out are part of a generation that treats the artists and bands equally regardless of major label status or

popularity. We are thrilled to be able to highlight them and give the recognition they so deserve.

This issue is also about New Breaking Hits & as of this past week there were a number of new singles released by

the majors that really deserve some immediate attention. We have to go back to recent NMA winner Taylor Swift who just

released a brand new album. With over three hundred million streams so far and counting (is that even possible) the debut

album features the single “Fortnight” (Republic) with Post Malone that pulled in the most radio support for a new song that

we have seen so far in 2024. The heat on this one is undeniable and it appears to be headed straight to the top of the charts in

record time.

Other new breaking hits of note come to us from Sabrina Carpenter who has been on a roll in 24 with her new

“Espresso” (Island/Republic) leading the charge. Doja Cat’s back with a solid chart-breaker in “OKLOSER” (RCA). NMA

winner Benson Boone has just released the new and ever powerful “Slow It Down” (Night Street/Warner). Dua Lipa keeps

sending out hit after hit and has “Illusion” (Warner) out and about for your listening pleasure. Hozier even came back this

quarter with “Too Sweet” (Columbia) that is too good.

New breaking independents in pop music are out from newcomer Bryan Hawn with “Too Soon” to Country from

NMW favorite Joey Canyon with “Up Yours” (Glo-Dot). Again a major congratulations to all of the New Music Award

winners. You so deserve the very best. Here at New Music Weekly we continue to “level the playing field” each and every day

and we will continue to support artists and bands from the majors to the independent artist.

O N T H E C O V E R

Sam Roy Hagar also known as the Red Rocker, is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He

rose to prominence in the early 1970s with the hard rock band Montrose before launching a successful

solo career, scoring a hit in 1984 with “I Can’t Drive 55”. He enjoyed further commercial success when

he replaced David Lee Roth as the lead vocalist of Van Halen in 1985, but left in 1996. He returned

to the band from 2003 to 2005. In 2007, Hagar was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as

a member of Van Halen. His musical style primarily consists of hard rock and heavy metal. Also a

businessman, Hagar founded the Cabo Wabo tequila brand and restaurant chain, as well as Sammy’s

Beach Bar rum. His current musical projects include being the lead singer of Chickenfoot and Sammy

Hagar and the Circle. Hagar also is the host of Rock & Roll Road Trip with Sammy Hagar on AXS TV.

Growing up, Hagar would pick fruit, deliver newspapers, and mow lawns to earn money. He excelled

academically and discovered music while in high school, teaching himself to play guitar on a $40 instrument

purchased from a Sears catalog. He fronted his first band, the Fabulous Castilles, when he

was 14 years old. At age 17, Hagar went to San Bernardino and snuck in to see the 1964 US debut

of the Rolling Stones at the Swing Auditorium. He also regularly attended concerts by surf guitarist

Dick Dale at the Riverside National Guard Armory. By the late 1970s, Hagar was enjoying moderate

success as a solo artist on Capitol Records under the tutelage of A&R man Carter, with such albums

as Nine on a Ten Scale and hits such as “Red”, which would build his persona and style, leading to his

nickname as “the Red Rocker”. Hagar had become a headlining act in many parts of the United States

and Europe. In 1987, Hagar had his first No. 1 hit on the Billboard Album Rock Tracks with “Give to

Live” from I Never Said Goodbye, released after which he soon joined Van Halen and the rest is history.

Dua Lipa is about as hot as any female (or

male) artist around these days. It’s really been hit

after hit and she displays it all once again with

the release of “Illusion” (Warner). Such a powerhouse track that you can’t put down.

Radio is all over this one big time and from the words we are getting out there at radio,

this one really could go “all the way”. Sabrina Carpenter is pulling no punches and

make no mistake about that. Just as her single “Feather” has been sitting at #1 for a

number of weeks, her latest and greatest in “Espresso” (Island/Republic) really tops

things off. It appears that this is another top of the chart single from this rising star and

we are so very thrilled for her.

Justin Timberlake continues his return to radio and in a very big way. Many

of our music and program directors are all over his new “No Angels” (RCA) song.

This is a smart entry and we can see what all of the excitement is all about after only

one play. Also pulling in some rather impressive numbers is Beyonce. Not only is the

first single from her country album “Texas Hold ‘Em” doing blockbuster business,

her new single with Miley Cyrus entitled “II Most Wanted” (Parkwood/Columbia) is

breaking big time. For any of the non-believers, and some of us right here, Beyonce

is pop and Country all the way.

Usher continues his winning ways and the charts are telling the tale. “Kissing

Strangers” (mega/gamma) is a real monster jam for Usher who is still getting raves

and waves from his recent Super Bowl performance. Even though he had to pick up

much of the tab personally, it’s already paying out massive dividends and that’s quite

a bundle. The shows have been selling out and the crowds are getting bigger so the

gamble has paid off.

The pairing of the ever popular Jelly Roll and rising star Lainey Wilson has

turned into something rather special. “Save Me” (Stoney Creek/BMG) is the jam

I’m referring to which is crossing from Hot AC, Country to Top40. Now that is what

we refer to as a massive “crossover Hit”! It’s such a great song from start to finish

and music lovers and radio listeners have been singing its praises from coast to coast.

Good move Mr. Jelly Roll.

Muni Long is set for one of the biggest singles in 2024. “Made For Me” (Def

Jam/Republic) is nothing short of brilliant and it really shines as a monster hit that is

already crossing formats. The production is first-rate and the songwriting is as cool

and brilliant as it comes. The move that Meghan Trainor took to include T-Pain on her

track has really turned into radio magic. “Been Like This” (Epic) is pretty amazing

and it has given Meghan the opportunity to be a topic of conversation at radio. Love

this one a lot and I’m told there is a lot more brilliance ahead for Meghan and her

brilliant team. You go girl!

Recording artist Sophie Ellis-Bextor got a bit ripped off by some of the radio

gods. I’m not sure what happened, but she dropped a solid winner in “Murder On

The Dancefloor” (Casablanca/Republic) only to have it pulled back by her record

label and or management. Hey once you have a hit you need to stick with it. Maybe

she and the team behind her know something that we don’t but we wish her the best

of luck regardless.

Renee Rapp keeps fighting the good fight and make no mistake about her

quest to take over the music industry. Not only is she still getting raves from her last

performance on Saturday Night Live, her new “Not My Fault” (Interscope) continues

to bloom to even greater heights. This actress turned pop star is getting the best of both

worlds these days and why not. Victoria Monet continues her winning ways as well

and there will be no denying her the greatness she deserves. “On My Mama” (Lovett

Music/RCA) is truly one of the hottest singles at radio right now so put that in your

pipe and smoke it. Knox is taking over the Top40 these days and we seemed to have

called it in our last report. The radio world is truly loving “Not The 1975” (Atlantic)

and is opening up a brand new world. This is our big annual Winners edition. A major

congrats to all of our winners and the new breaking hits setting the plate.

Inside AC Radio

Hozier has to be one of the most talented

recording artists at the AC40 format. He also

gets plenty of crossover help as well and that

should be no surprise to anyone out there in the music world. His latest in “Too Sweet”

(Columbia) is one of the many reasons to support this brilliant vocalist. The single is

getting a big thumbs up from our panel of music and program directors and we are

not surprised about that one bit. DJO is taking the pop music world by storm. “End

Of Beginning” (AWAL) is really a monster hit single and everybody from Top40 to

AC40 are all over this one big time. Benson Boone continues to work his magic across

formats and he’s really turned into quite the go-too recording artist. His current single

in “Slow It Down” (Night Street/Warner) is about as good as it gets and I’d give this

one a top priority for sure. Also making some solid magic at radio is Dasha. With this

new single “Austin” (Warner/WMN) the track is breaking from pop to country and

in a very big way. Record labels are finally realizing that crossing formats is the way

to go if they want to make any money. Dasha does just that.

Doja Cat keeps pulling out hit after hit and make no mistake about that. Her

latest and greatest in “OKLOSER” (RCA) puts her back on top of the pack once

again. With her continued performances from television to concerts, she has really

become the “real deal”. I wasn’t too sure about her at the very beginning but I can

now be counted as one of her biggest fans. Hayes Warner and the single “Just A Girl”

featuring Billy B,K. Rudolf (felicity/further/Lakeside) has really turned out to be

something very special. From the first time I took a listen, it reached out to me and

made be a solid believer & so will you.

Jessie Murph has teamed up with the ever popular Jelly Roll and that has

turned into some pure magic. “Wild Ones” (Columbia) is the jam that I’m talking

about and what a great track this is. They work so well together on this track and it

really grabs you from the very first listen. Make this a top priority on your playlist and

keep everyone happy. I’m also really loving the new Chappell Roan. “Good Luck,

Babe!” (Island/Republic) is the one that really has some magic to it. I’ve been seeing

it tracking high across the board as many music and programmers from coast to coast

are all over this one big time.

The Weeknd continues to build believers each and every week and make no

mistake about that. “One Of The Girls featuring Jennie (XO/Republic) is actually

becoming quite the anthem at pop radio and for good reason, it’s just that good. It took

a bit to take hold of listeners but now everybody seems pretty hooked into this one for

sure. Shinedown is back at the format with one of their very best. Everybody is singing

the praises of their latest in “A Symptom Of Being Human” (Atlantic/3ee) and for

good reason. The production on this song is first rate and I would not be surprised if

they have a Top10 on their hands with this gem. It’s been a long and rough road for

Shinedown and they are back!

Nicki Minaj is hanging in there with one of her best to date. She has joined

forces with the ever popular Lil Uzi for a real winner in “Everybody” (Republic).

This track took a bit to grab a hold of radio but it is finally moving past the pack and

now at record speed. I’m also thrilled to see that the pairing of Jelly Roll & Lainey

Wilson has really turned into something special. Together they make some amazing

music with the single “Save Me” (Stoney Creek/BMG). It’s also a massive hit at

Country and that makes this even more special. Look for some big action ahead for

this magical music pairing for sure. Recent NMA winner Tommy Rice has teamed up

with Morgan Ridgely again “Little Girl On The Corner” (Tommy Rice Music) that is

excellent. NMA winners Cabela & Schmitt are on the move with “All Alone” (C&S

Music). Smith has a good thing going with “Run” (Hitmaker Music Group). NMA

winner Eileen Carey has delivered her best in “Every Day” (RolleyCstr Music) &

If you’re a musician, at some point, the city of

Nashville will be in your plans.

Music City USA

has earned its namesake.

For decades, aspiring

young, and not

so young country artists

have packed up all of

their belongings and

moved to the birthplace

of country music as we

all know it. A few were

overnight successes.

It took others a while

to make a splash.

A n d s t i l l o t h e r s

found odd jobs and

waited years, and finally

got their break.

While it’s true not

everybody that sets out to become a country superstar

makes the grade- in fact, it’s hard to be considered in

the Nashville elite as an “A” lister- that doesn’t stop

many from finding out what all the fuss is about.

Nashville is still country music’s home. But it’s

quickly becoming the home for artists of all genres to

see, and be seen.

There is one particular area that Nashville is successful

in keeping traditional, and deems it important

enough every year to draw radio station programmers

and music directors to the city. Sure, it’s a party to

some extent, but the Country Radio Seminar- CRS- is

not duplicated anywhere in the country by any other

radio format.

There’s a lot to be said about your country music

superstar. I take notice and pride in the fact that when

an artist wins an award, more times than not, they will

thank RADIO as part of being their success. Country

artists take the

time to talk to

stations, and in

turn their audience

base, and

make them feel

like they’re part

of the family.

Because, really,

the listener is to

the true country

music artist.

And vice versa.

That’s why radio

stations like the

legendary WSM

are known worldwide.

Country programmers mingle with artists and attend

seminars each year that both inform and entertain.

Networking is everything. And it is much easier now

than ever before to network and never spend a dime on

hotels, meals, and functions. But then, you miss out

on the true meaning of CRS. Shaking hands. Have a

beverage. Share ideas. No matter WHAT you do in

Lawrence to open

for The Rolling Stones

Yesterday, Lawrence — the 8-piece band fronted

by siblings Gracie and Clyde Lawrence — announced

that they will be opening for THE ROLLING STONES

at MetLife Stadium on May 26 to a crowd of almost

83,000 people. They’ll of course be playing music from

their forthcoming album, Family Business, at the show,

which will also be celebrated with their biggest-ever

headlining tour throughout this spring and summer. The

40-date international Family Business Tour includes

iconic venues Radio City Music Hall on September 19

and The Wiltern in Los Angeles on October 9. Family

Business is the follow-up to 2021’s Hotel TV and more

details, new music and release date will be announced

soon. Plus, today Lawrence released the all new

acoustic-ish video for their new single “Guy I Used To

Be” as a part of their very popular acousitc-ish series

(millions and millions of views across all platforms).

NPG Records And Paisley Park

release “Magnificent”

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of Prince’s

seminal Musicology album, NPG Records and Paisley

Park Enterprises, in partnership with Sony Music

Entertainment, have released “Magnificent,” a rare 2003

Prince track that was previously issued as a “virtual B-

side” to “Musicology,” the lead single from the classic

record. Originally distributed via Prince’s NPG Music

Club, the song has never been previously available on

any official streaming services, so today’s release marks

the first time that a new generation of Prince fans around

the world will have access to this hard-to-find gem.

The track’s debut on streaming follows the release of

“United States Of Division,” another rare B-side from

the Musicology era. “Magnificent” is a sensual love

song backed by layers of heavy digital percussion and an

ominous synthesizer riff throughout. Over the irresistibly

funky backing track, Prince croons to an unnamed lover:

“In the time it took the others / to say your name / we

became magnificent.” Unofficially available to Prince

fans for 20 years and sourced from master tapes found

in Prince’s legendary vault, “Magnificent” is yet another

stunning sonic artifact from a notably prolific era of his

celebrated career. The releases of “Magnificent” and

“United States Of Division” also celebrate the 20th

anniversary of Prince’s landmark Musicology Live

2004ever tour, a remarkable run of shows that saw the

trendsetting star distributing copies of his most recent

album Musicology to over a million concert attendees.

On Prince’s request, the tour featured reasonable ticket

prices that encouraged fans young and old to attend shows.

Devised by Prince and his longtime lawyer, confidante,

and Musicology Executive Producer L. Londell

McMillan this grassroots approach to album marketing

profoundly changed that way the music industry viewed

live performances and once again cemented Prince’s

status as one of modern music’s great creative visionaries.

Loverboy’s Paul Dean

Touts Release of Rare 1971 Album

Loverboy guitarist Paul Dean is excited about the

recent release of the long-lost debut album by his band

The Fox (later changed to Canada-Fox), formed in 1969

in Vancouver, a full decade before Dean would co-found

Loverboy with Mike Reno and Doug Johnson. The

other members of Canada-Fox consist of organist/lead

vocalist/writer and arranger Clyde Harvey, bassist Brian

Newcombe and writer/drummer/vocalist Billy McBeth.

The previously unreleased album has been picked up by

Sony Music for distribution to all streaming services.

Ten songs were originally recorded by the group in

1970 in a Toronto studio after getting picked up by RCA

Canada, an event Dean only recalls by seeing pictures

of them “signing something” with the label boss. The

band was dropped after two singles were released,

leaving the original lacquer acetates of the album with

drummer McBeth, who copied it onto a CD and sent it

to Paul. Dean then isolated the vocals and instruments

from the original two-track stereo. “I polished those

suckers for literally months, restoring them with these

new software programs, much the same way the Beatles

reconstructed ‘Now and Then.’ It was a great learning

experience, and yeah, I’m a real tech nerd”, says Dean.

“I was blown away by these songs that I hadn’t listened

to in over 50 years, and then I dove right in, looking

noise, so-on with my producer/mixer hat.” Remixed and

remastered, Canada-Fox offers a compendium of blues,

soul, R&B, funk and psychedelia that both recalls those

halcyon times, but also remains timeless and modern,

sounding as if it was recorded yesterday. Highlights

include a spirited mash-up of The Beatles’ “Day

Tripper” and James Brown’s “Licking Stick,” which

has Dean aping that classic George Harrison guitar lick,

then taking it to the bridge. “That’s my favorite track

on the record,” says Paul. “It’s just so funky, and Clyde

really nails it.” “Coochy Coo” is a blues-rocker with a

cheeky, sensuous backbeat, while “Livin’ My Life” has a

country feel and a classic Paul Dean guitar solo. These,

along with a gloriously funky take on Sly Stone’s “Sing

a Simple Song”, were recorded in 1971 in Vancouver

and Edmonton, respectively. Dean’s sole writing and

lead vocal credit, “Mr. Tall,” shows him vamping like

his idol Jimi Hendrix, which can also be heard on the

heavy instrumental, ‘The Fox’. “We‘d listen to Hendrix

on our PA system, which we unpacked and set up in the

basement of our band house,” says Dean. “In fact, we

used to cover ‘Foxy Lady’ and ‘Voodoo Child’ in our set.”

Raise $2.6m

Last Thursday, country hitmaker Clay Walker and

The Clay Walker Foundation held their annual Band

Against MS Gala at the Ballroom at Bayou Place in

Houston where they raised an incredible $220,000 for

Multiple Sclerosis research. In 1996, Walker faced a new

battle with his diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis (MS), but

rather than yielding to its challenges, he emerged as a

fierce advocate and fundraiser, establishing the Clay

Walker Foundation to support those affected by the

disease. Overall, The Clay Walker Foundation has raised

$2.6 million dollars for Multiple Sclerosis research.

The evening began with a pre-concert mixer where

sponsors participated in a silent auction with items

such as guitars signed by Taylor Swift and Toby Keith,

tickets to the ACM and CMA Awards VIP packages to

George Strait show and sideline passes to the Houston

Texans game. The highlight of the evening was the

dynamic and inspiring performance by Walker himself.

The proud Texan took the stage and performed his hits

and gave an emotional performance of his new single,

“I Know She Hung The Moon.” Attendees dined on

a delicious three-course dinner followed by a live

auction. Year after year, the Gala proves to be a must

attend event and this year was no different. Community

all while raising life-changing funding for the BAMS

tour is set to continue on September 23, 2024, at West

Cole Swindell continues to work his magic

at Country most every step of the way. His latest

in “Forever To Me” (Warner Nashville/WMN)

once again showcases his immense talent and it’s get to see him doing so well at

the format that is well deserved at best. Also love seeing this new Morgan Wallen

collaboration with Ernest. entitled “Cowgirls” (Big Loud/Mercury/Republic) is we

can just get Morgan to calm down a bit he could be going even better out there. The

talent is obvious but the attitude is a bit lacking in substance.

Dasha and the single “Austin” (Warner/WMN) is fast becoming a big deal at

the format. You know you have a real winner on your hands when you start tracking

a song at multi-formats. That’s when you know you have a crossover Hit and this

one does just that. The new Luke Bryan single is off like a rocket but he may no be,

His new “Love You, Miss You, Mean It” (Capitol Nashville) is solid but his antics on

stage with the recent slip and fall could end him up in the ER if he’s not careful. Take

it easy Luke, we need you around.

Dan + Shay always seems to be ahead of the pack and in every way. Their latest

single in “Bigger Houses” is just what we’ve been waiting for and the response for this

one has been pretty stellar. They are truly one of the best duo groups out at Country

radio today and we wish them the very best. Cody Johnson has also been on a role

as of late. His current “Dirt Cheap” (CoJo/Warner/WMN) is about as hot as they get

and our music and program directors are all over this one from coast to coast. Make

sure to give this one a little extra attention on your personal music playlist and you

will be glad you did.

Drew Baldridge has a hit brewing big time on the Country format. “She’s

Somebody’s Daughter” (Lyric Ridge) took awhile to take hold but now that the song

has been given time to sink in, it’s really off like a rocket. It’s excellent song writing

at its very best and Nashville sure knows how to pick them. I’m also thrilled to see

that Gabby Barrett is back with a new single. One of my all-time favorites from

American Idol, she shines as her latest entry in “Dance Like No One’s Watching”

(Warner Nashville/WAR) takes flight. It’s the perfect track for Gabby and we wish

her the very best at radio with this gem.

Chris Stapleton pulling past the pack with yet another excellent song. Most

everything he has had out lately has really been home-run material but he gives us yet

his very best with the new single “Think I’m In Love With You” (Mercury Nashville).

Great song that should be around for years to come. Also taking advantage of a good

thing is Nate Smith. The first time I heard the single “Bulletproof” (RCA Nashville)

I knew something special was going on. What a great song this is and make sure to

add it to your playlist now.

Dylan Scott is building more fans by the minute at Country radio. His latest

is the song called “This Town’s Been Too Good To..” (Curb) you just know that

something magical is happening. Jelly Roll has truly been “on a roll” and he does is

better than most with this fast rising “Halfway To Hell” (Stoney Creek/BMG). His

stint as a mentor on American Idol was quite brilliant and what a warm and gracious

guy he seems to be. John Morgan has joined forces with Jason Aldean for a real solid

barn-burner. “Friends Like That” (Night Train/Broken Bow) is the jam that I’m talking

about and what a smash hit this is - amazing! Bryan Martin is rocking the free world

with “We Ride” (Avg Joes/New Revolution). What a monster this has turned out to be.

I’m also happy to see that Chris Young is taking his single “Young Love & Saturday

Nights” (RCA Nashville) all the way home. It proves the point that you have to stick

with these songs to make them happen. Conner Smith just landed another one with

“Roulette On The Heart” (Valory/Big Loud) featuring Hailey Whitters so look out

for this one. Cody Johnson is rocking strong with his ever so brilliant “Dirt Cheap”

(CoJo/Warner/WMN). Joey Canyon is back with a real smash in “Up Yours” (Glo-

Dot). This is one great song and we are all so thrilled to have Joey back on the charts

of New Music Weekly. Again this our big Winners and New Breaking Hits issue so a

major congrats to all of our NMA winners and you have a lot to be proud of.

Carrie Underwood is no stranger to the word “reality.” After all, as the winner of the 2005 season of

“American Idol,” she won the hearts of millions of viewers across the world. Now, the singer has entered into

a promotion that is sure to please her fan following.

Sony Music Nashville and Aurasma, the world’s leading augmented reality platform, have partnered

to launch an augmented reality promotional campaign for Underwood’s No. 1 album, “Blown Away,” which

was released in May.

Using the free Aurasma Lite app for iPhones, iPads and Android devices available from the iTunes App

Store and Google Play, fans can launch exclusive video of Underwood that is triggered by aiming the device

at the cover image of Blown Away. The video leaps from the Blown Away image on the mobile device or

tablet and provides a click-through gateway to the album at the iTunes store. The promotion was launched

in Nashville recently at the CMA Music Festival.

“Carrie Underwood is always looking for ways to connect with her fans,” said Gary Overton, Sony

Music Nashville chairman and chief executive officer. “We are excited to embrace a cutting-edge technology like augmented reality to help give fans

something special and provide a cool, unique connection between the artist and audience. Sony Music Nashville is excited to watch this fun idea unfold

and is eager to partner with Aurasma on other future campaigns.”

Upon its release on May 1, “Blown Away” made history by debuting at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country albums sales chart making Underwood

only the second country artist in the 47 year history of the chart to have each of their first four albums debut at No. 1. “Blown Away” also debuted at

No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart making Underwood only the second country artist in history to have three consecutive albums debut at No.

1. “Blown Away” became country’s best-selling digital album debut since 2010.

“Carrie Underwood is a proven superstar. We are thrilled to partner with Sony Music Nashville to help increase the momentum of her smash

album Blown Away,” said Jennifer Rapp, general manager of Aurasma. “By leveraging augmented reality to bridge the physical and virtual worlds, Sony

Yesterday, Underwood performed the first of four concerts on the Australian leg of her tour to promote “Blown Away.” She kicked things off in

Melbourne, and will perform in Tamworth and Brisbane on Friday and Saturday, before finishing things in Sydney on Sunday. Also, Underwood has just

released the title cut as the second single -- to follow up the chart-topping success of “Good Girl,” which became her fifteenth number one record.

can say that they had one of music’s sexiest performers as a

teacher. Sheryl Crow - long before she hit it big in 1993 with

“All I Wanna Do,” was actually a music teacher at Kellison

Elementary School. Though her teaching days in school are

long over, Crow - who turns an amazing 50 years old today -

has educated many of her fans about some of Country Music’s

greatest performers, such as Loretta, Hank, and Johnny Cash.

Are you up on These Hearts? Ryan Saunders, vocals, Kyle

Colby, guitar/vocals Isaiah Folk, drums, Daryl Van Beek, guitar

and Tyler Rice, bass make up this super red hot band. The recent

release of the lyric video for “Miserable” has ignited their fans

anticipation for their forthcoming sophomore album “Yours To

Take” available this month. The new album can be heard live

on the band’s headlining album release tour beginning in Joliet,

IL. The band’s sound is a combination of honest, refreshing,

spirited pitch-perfect harmonies with dynamic and emotive

The New York based indie rock band Born Cages is set to

release their Sidelines EP via Razor & Tie. The band will hit the

road this summer as well. Born Cages new EP was produced

by Jon Kaplan (Walk The Moon, Augustana) and Oliver Straus

(Arctic Monkeys, Matt & Kim) at Mission Sound in Brooklyn,

NY. The band is finishing up their debut full length album to be

released later this year. The New York City based Born Cages

formed in 2011. Within one year the young band had already

released an EP, opened two sold-out shows for Guns N’ Roses and

shared stages with such bands as Gold Fields, Mother Mother, and

Ludo. The band has had music played on Q104.3 in New York

and recently recorded a session at the Gibson NYC showroom

that premiered on Purevolume. They were also featured on a large

billboard in Times Square as part of a Toshiba promotion. Born

Cages is Vlad Holiday (lead vocals/lead guitar), Amanda Carl

(keyboards/backing vocals), Steve Kellner (bass guitar/backing

vocals) and Dave Tantao (drums).

John Tejada has a new exclusive mix for Halocyan Records

entitled “Somewhere” via Pitchfork. Have you been following

New York City-based retro songstress Joanne Weaver sets

out to the Dominican Republic this month to shoot her new music

video for “Nature Boy”, the latest single off her debut album

Interstellar Songbook which she released in June of last year. The

concept album is a collection of Joanne’s unique, psychedelic

renditions of eight classic standards from the 40s, 50s and early

60s and is available on iTunes and CD Baby.
