New Survey Sheds Light on
French Support for Hunting
In a ground-breaking
survey commissioned
by the French National
Hunters’ Federation
(FNC) and conducted
in cooperation with the
European Federation for
Hunting and Conservation
(FACE), findings reveal a
substantial majority of the
French public supports or
is neutral towards hunting,
provided it adheres to legal
and regulatory standards.
This survey, executed by
YouGov, offers fresh insights
into the societal perception
and acceptance of hunting
practices, including the
aspect of trophy hunting,
within France.
Key Survey Insights
General Support for Hunting
Approximately 70 per cent
of respondents indicated
support or neutrality
towards hunting activities
that are conducted within
the legal and regulatory
framework of France. This
demonstrates a significant
level of public acceptance and
understanding of hunting as
a regulated and traditional
activity.
ALL THE LATEST
GLOBAL TRADE NEWS
In this month’s issue, we investigate a
variety of themes and developments
that are shaping the global industry,
marked by significant legislative
changes, industry milestones and top
exhibitions from around the globe.
Starting with important legislative
news, on page 16 we cover the recent
developments in the US, where
Governors Eric Holcomb of Indiana
and Spencer Cox of Utah have enacted
new measures to preserve the privacy
of firearm and ammunition purchasers.
This move draws attention to a broader
trend of privacy and rights protection
that is rippling through the industry.
Our feature articles begin with an indepth
look at Enforce Tac 2024, which
has once again set new standards in the
security industry. The event surpassed
expectations, highlighting its pivotal
role in shaping future security solutions.
At the EOS Show 2024, record
attendance showed off the thriving
nature of the outdoor and shooting
industries in Italy, demonstrating
a robust market and a passionate
community. We also report on the
British Shooting Show, another show
celebrating record-breaking numbers.
We preview the Istanbul Prohunt
2024, which will be looking for similar
success in June, where the show
will be showcasing the best of local
craftsmanship and global brands in the
Turkish gun market. Next, we review
the IWA OutdoorClassics 2024, the
show marked its 50th anniversary and
solid numbers reinforced its status as
a leading platform in the hunting and
target sports industries.
Elsewhere, coverage continues with
a critical look at the ongoing delays
in firearm exports under the Biden
administration, a contentious issue that
has sparked a strong response from both
representatives and senators urging an
end to what they call a governmental
“charade.”
We also celebrate Norica Airguns,
a brand synonymous with quality and
innovation in the Spanish airgun market
for over a century. Our focus then
shifts to Italy, exploring its rich hunting
traditions and vibrant industry that
caters to hunting enthusiasts globally.
We also examine the technological
advances and customer commitment
that define Vortex Optics and take
a deep dive into Huglu’s tradition
in firearm excellence, which has
established the company as a major
player, globally.
NEWS
New survey sheds light on French support for hunting
• Continued from page 3
Awareness of Hunting Practices
Over half of the survey participants
(54 per cent) reported being at least
somewhat familiar with hunting practices
and the corresponding legal framework in
France, indicating a considerable level of
public awareness.
International Hunting and Conservation
The survey also explored the public’s
stance on the acceptability of importing
parts of animals legally hunted abroad
(e.g., horns, antlers), highlighting that 58
per cent of respondents were supportive
or neutral, especially when such practices
contribute to conservation efforts and
comply with international regulations.
Contrasting Public Opinion and
Legislative Proposals
These findings stand in stark contrast to
previous claims by the Humane Society
International (HSI), which suggested
a vast majority of the French public
supported a ban on the import of hunting
trophies. The survey emerges amidst
political discussions aimed at restricting
the movement of hunting trophies in and
out of France, sparking a broader debate
on the subject.
Business and Policy Implications
This survey’s results could have
significant implications for businesses
within the hunting and conservation
sectors, as well as for policymakers. The
general acceptance and understanding
of hunting within legal bounds suggest
a stable environment for businesses
operating in these sectors, potentially
fostering growth and innovation in
sustainable hunting and conservation
practices.
Moreover, the nuanced perspective of
the French public towards trophy hunting
and its role in conservation efforts offers
a critical insight for policymakers. It
suggests that future legislative efforts
could benefit from considering the
complexities of hunting’s contribution to
conservation and the sustainable use of
wildlife resources. This approach could
facilitate a more balanced and informed
discourse on hunting regulations,
potentially leading to policies that
support biodiversity while respecting
cultural practices.
Moving Forward
FACE and FNC aim to use these
findings to foster constructive dialogue
around hunting, conservation and
sustainability. With hunting deeply
embedded in the cultural and ecological
landscape of Europe, this survey
highlights the importance of informed
discussions and evidence-based policies
that balance conservation needs with
cultural practices.
As the dialogue continues, businesses,
policymakers and conservationists alike
are urged to consider these insights in
shaping the future of hunting and wildlife
management strategies. The potential
for hunting to contribute positively
to conservation efforts, alongside the
public’s nuanced understanding of these
practices, offers a hopeful path forward
for our industry.
READER’S LETTER
In response to our April
2024 article “Great Gear –
Shifting to Lead-Free Ammo
for Airguns.” Edward King,
Managing Director, ASI
gave his response from a UK
perspective:
Dear Rob,
Thank you for the continued
distribution of GTW –
always an interesting read.
In this month’s issue,
however, I feel I should
question your article on page
32 ‘Shifting to lead free ammo
for airguns’.
Lead still provides the
only practical solution
as a material for airgun
ammunition: it possesses the
best combination of density
and malleability to provide
energy and accuracy – both of
which are crucial.
The Food Standards
Agency concluded that eating
lead shot game on a weekly
basis should be avoided by
three categories of person:
pregnant women, children
going through puberty
and those suffering from
hypertension (high blood
pressure). There was no direct
causal relationship proved
between ingestion of lead shot
game and these vulnerable
groups, but it was felt that
there may be an increased
probability. The reality is
that there is not enough lead
shot game in the country for
the population to eat it more
than once every couple of
years, so the FSA warning is
purely theoretical.
As far as I am aware,
there is no evidence that lead
from airgun pellets as ever
contaminated soil and water
bodies to the extent that it has
caused a threat
to wildlife or
humans.
The
Gun Trade
Association
has fought
very hard
indeed to
have airgun
ammunition
kept outside
the scope
of the
imminent
ban on
lead in ammunition; this is
mainly because alternatives
to lead are ineffective,
inaccurate and hard to
obtain. Your article gives
the impression that the
alternatives are as numerous
as they are practical, which is
not the case.
Were the proposed lead shot
ban to include airgun
ammunition it would be
devastating to the airgun
industry and that is no
exaggeration.
Kind regards
Edward King
INDIANA AND UTAH GOVERNORS ENACT LAWS
TO PROTECT SECOND AMENDMENT PRIVACY
In a significant move to safeguard
Second Amendment rights,
Governors Eric Holcomb of
Indiana and Spencer Cox of Utah
have recently signed into law new
measures aimed at preserving the
privacy of firearm and ammunition
purchasers. These laws, strongly
supported by the National Shooting
Sports Foundation (NSSF), the
firearm industry’s trade association,
prohibit financial institutions from
using a firearm-retailer specific
Merchant Category Code (MCC)
to monitor lawful firearm and
ammunition transactions.
The legislation, known as the Second
Amendment Privacy Acts, was passed
last week with Indiana’s HB 1084 and
Utah’s HB 406. These laws emerge as
a countermeasure against the potential
exploitation of legal purchases for political
aims or unlawful surveillance by corporate
financial entities and government
agencies.
The creation of a firearm-retailer
specific MCC, an initiative driven by
antigun advocates and entities such as
New York Times columnist Andrew Ross
Sorkin and Amalgamated Bank, has raised
concerns over privacy and the potential
for undue government oversight. Critics
argue that such measures could lay the
groundwork for a national firearm registry,
a move currently prohibited by federal law.
Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice
President & General Counsel, highlighted
the urgent need for these protections,
citing past overreaches by banks and
the federal government that threaten
Second Amendment and privacy rights.
He commended both governors for their
leadership in enacting laws that ensure
citizens can exercise their constitutional
rights without fear of being unjustly
targeted or monitored.
The passage of these laws in Indiana
and Utah adds them to a growing list
of states, including Florida, Idaho,
Mississippi, Montana, North Dakota,
Texas, and West Virginia, which
have enacted similar protections.
This legislative trend underscores
a nationwide effort to secure the
privacy rights of law-abiding gun
owners against potential abuses.
Amidst this backdrop, the
U.S. Treasury’s Financial Crimes
Enforcement Network (FinCEN)
faced scrutiny for infringing Fourth
Amendment rights by collecting data
on gun and ammunition purchases
around January 6, 2020, without just
cause or warrants. This incident further
fuels the debate over privacy rights and
the extent of government surveillance.
As the discussion continues, both
federal and state-level efforts to protect
Second Amendment privacy rights are
gaining momentum, with several other
states contemplating similar laws. The
NSSF remains at the forefront of these
efforts, advocating for legislative actions
that defend the rights of gun owners
while calling for transparency and
accountability from those pushing for
increased monitoring of lawful purchases.
EOS SHOW 2024
EOS SHOW 2024
RECORD ATTENDANCE
HIGHLIGHTS THRIVING OUTDOOR
AND SHOOTING INDUSTRIES
With over 17,000 visitors on day one, 13,648 admissions on day two and an
unprecedented 40,000 guests on day three, it’s safe to say that the 2024 edition of the
Italian-based European Outdoor Show (EOS) was a resounding success.
On an unseasonably warm February
Monday, the EOS Show solidified
its status as a premier event in the
hunting, shooting, outdoor, and
fishing sectors, drawing an unprecedented
crowd of nearly 40,000 visitors on its third
day. This surge in attendance not only
highlights the passion for these activities
but also emphasises the event’s success in
gathering the finest from both local and
international circles, with 40 countries
represented and a total of 676 companies
making their mark.
The hunting and shooting sector
experienced a significant boost, with
295 direct exhibitors, marking a 19 per
cent increase from the previous year.
The presence of brands surged by 34 per
cent, emphasising the sector’s vibrant
growth and innovation. The Italian
excellence in firearm manufacturing was
particularly notable, with 48 producers and
distributors, an increase of six from 2023,
showcasing their latest advancements and
contributions to the industry.
Daniele Piva, Commercial Director
of Beretta, reflected on the event’s
significance, noting the industry’s
adaptation to post-Covid trends such as
an increased desire for nature, health, and
quality food. He highlighted the adoption
of new technologies like the interactive
game Hunting Clash and augmented
reality for shooting performance
enhancement as promising avenues for
future growth.
Federica Gozza, Marketing Manager
at Baschieri & Pellagri, was particularly
impressed by the youthful and female
demographics at the show, indicating a
growing interest in sustainable practices,
such as the use of alternative materials to
lead in ammunition.
Emanuele Sabatti, owner of the historic
Sabatti company, and Mauro Perazzi,
owner of Perazzi, which specialises in
Olympic medal-winning shotguns, both
noted the increased presence of young
people and women, appreciating the event’s
organisation and the dynamic market it
serves.
Pierangelo Pedersoli, owner of Pedersoli
and president of the Consortium of Italian
Gunsmiths, commented on the event’s
growth and expressed disappointment
over unrelated protests, reaffirming the
industry’s focus on historical replicas and
craftsmanship.
The event also highlighted the
innovation in apparel and equipment,
with companies like Zotta Forest and Ol
Feder showcasing products that cater to
the modern outdoorsman and woman,
emphasising quality and sustainability.
The EOS Show concluded with
discussions on sustainable hunting
practices and the announcement of highprofile
shooting competitions at Lonato
del Garda, further cementing its role as
a key event in the global outdoor and
shooting calendar.
With eyes now turned towards the next
EOS Show in February 2025, the industry
continues to evolve, driven by a blend
of tradition, innovation, and a growing
community of enthusiasts eager to embrace
the outdoors and its myriad opportunities.
TRADE EXHIBITION
ISTANBUL PROHUNT 2024
REPRESENTING THE BEST OF LOCAL
CRAFTSMANSHIP AND GLOBAL BRANDS
The Istanbul Prohunt Exhibition, an event symbolic of the meeting of tradition, innovation
and commerce stands as a significant marker of progress and expansion in the Turkish gun
market. The exhibition, which celebrates its 11th event, has steadily ascended in stature to
become not only Turkey’s paramount trade fair in our sector but also the second largest in
Europe, underlining its pivotal role to the global hunting community.
The essence of Prohunt lies in its
dual capacity to serve as a platform
for Turkish producers to showcase
their innovations and craftsmanship,
as well as a venue for international brands
to present their latest products. This blend
of local and global exhibitors ensures a
comprehensive overview of the hunting
and firearms industries, facilitating a rich
exchange of ideas, technologies, and business
opportunities. The fair occupies a substantial
space of 16,000sq/m, spread across three
halls, evidence of its expansive nature and
the diverse array of products and services on
display.
One of the distinguishing features
of Istanbul Prohunt is its emphasis on
commercial comfort and the significant
volume of professional visitors it attracts.
This focus not only enhances the experience
of attendees but also contributes to
the effective networking and business
transactions that are pivotal to the fair’s
objectives. The array of interesting stands on
show and the spectrum of enjoyable events
planned by the organisers further enrich this
experience, ensuring that the exhibition is
not only a marketplace but also a celebration
of the hunting and outdoor culture.
Scheduled to be held from May 29 to
June 1, 2024, at the Istanbul Expo Center,
the International Istanbul Prohunt show
promises to continue its tradition of highquality
exhibitors and visitors.
As the Istanbul Prohunt exhibition
evolves, it does so with the vision of further
solidifying its status within the international
community, thereby contributing to the
expansion of the market for hunting guns,
accessories, and outdoor sports industries
both domestically and internationally.
Below are four key reasons why
participation at ProHunt is not just an
opportunity but a strategic imperative for
brands looking to enhance their market
presence and operational success:
Exclusive Industry Platform
Istanbul Prohunt distinguishes itself as the
sole exhibition within Turkey dedicated
to hunting, arms, and outdoor sports.
This exclusivity provides an unmatched
opportunity for exhibitors to engage
directly with top decision-makers and
buyers from critical markets. The presence
of leading international manufacturers
and trade visitors further supplements
the event, creating a unique environment
for establishing contacts, showcasing
innovations, and expanding market potential.
Strategic Economic and Sectoral Growth
Turkey’s rapidly growing economy and
the notable increase in production quality
amplify the attractiveness of the hunting
and outdoor sports sector. With a storied
history as a commercial hub, Turkey’s recent
investments have further solidified its global
standing, particularly as one of the top five
weapon manufacturing centres. The defence
industry in Turkey, with a 70 per cent rate
of domestic production, serves as a prime
example of market development, offering a
fertile ground for companies looking to tap
into a booming market with high-quality
production capabilities.
Geopolitical Advantage
Situated at the crossroads of East-West and
North-South trade axes, Turkey functions as
a strategic bridge, facilitating efficient access
to a vast customer base spanning Eurasia,
the Middle East, and Africa. This unique
geographical position enables exhibitors
to extend their reach to approximately
1.5 billion potential customers, leveraging
Turkey’s strategic location to establish new
contacts and penetrate emerging markets at
competitive costs.
Multifaceted Business Opportunities
The Istanbul Prohunt offers a spectrum
of opportunities for exhibitors to achieve
various business objectives. These include
maintaining and expanding customer
bases, securing new orders, unveiling
innovations, creating, and augmenting
export opportunities, and gaining insights
into competitor advancements. Additionally,
the expo allows for the testing of product
pricing, designs, and packaging with
immediate market feedback, discovering new
distribution channels, and enhancing brand
prestige and trust among customers.
REPS. AND SENATORS
URGE WHITE HOUSE:
STOP THE CHARADE WITH
FIREARM EXPORT DELAY
By Larry Keane
It’s no surprise the Biden administration will go to great lengths to punish and pulverize
the lawful and constitutionally protected firearm industry, including the millions of
Americans who rely on the industry to exercise their Second Amendment rights. After all,
the president started his campaign for 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue by deeming the nearly
400,000 Americans who work in the firearm and ammunition business “the enemy.”
The latest White House ploy is
not only impacting the firearm
industry domestically, but in
other countries that rely on
America. The gimmicks from the Biden
administration present new national
security concerns as well. The Commerce
Department’s Bureau of Industry and
Security (BIS) “paused” firearm exports
to allow for a policy review to consider
human rights, despite there already
being strict end-to-end verifications and
the ability for the State, Defense and
Commerce Departments to halt an export
license if an end-user cannot be certified.
A “pause” was unnecessary and unjustified
because BIS is continually assessing
export licensing policies. It can walk and
chew gum at the same time.
The Biden administration’s BIS has
drawn the ire of Congress because it is
expected BIS will make the export “pause”
a permanent policy.
“And furthermore, just in a broader
issue, we are not selling US arms in a
vacuum. If we care about human rights…
We want them buying from the United
States where we do have appropriate
oversight,” said US Rep. Michael Waltz
(R-Fla.) in a recent Congressional
hearing.
The White House should heed his
warning, but signs seem to suggest they
have turned a blind eye.
‘Pause’ and Effect
The White House’s stated goal of the
initial 90-day pause was to “further assess
current firearm export control review
policies to determine whether any changes
are warranted to advance US national
security and foreign policy interests.”
However, it’s clear the decision was
made to appease gun control activists
pushing the president to “do more”
to combat “gun violence,” including
criminal and narco-terrorist violence in
countries beyond US borders, including
in Mexico. Besides, it isn’t lost on anyone
in the firearm industry that it was the
Biden administration that abandoned
several billion dollars’ worth of arms
in his botched and deadly Afghanistan
withdrawal that ended up in the hands of
the Taliban.
Since the decision was made on a late
Friday afternoon with hardly any advance
warning, members of Congress have made
their opposition to the decision known,
including how backwards the logic is.
In a letter to Under Secretary of
Commerce for Industry and Security
Alan Estevez, US Sen. Mike Lee (R-
Utah) addressed the initial stated goal for
The White House’s edict.
“Over these past 90 days, however, our
national security has not improved. In
fact, it has rapidly deteriorated. Today,
our country faces a situation where
American servicemembers are subjected
to a constant barrage of attacks from
hostile terrorist groups, where our border
is overwhelmed by an endless flow of
illegal migrants, and where our defense
supply base continues to be depleted at
a shocking rate,” Sen. Lee wrote. “Of
course, none of these threats to our
national security were caused by the
law-abiding Americans whose only ‘crime’
was to pursue a career in the firearms
industry.”
Members of the House of
Representatives and Senate offered bills
to stop the administration from taking
further action, including Sen. Lee, who
was joined on his bill by colleagues Sens.
John Thune (R-S.D.), Cynthia Lummis
Minimal Impact Abroad, Large Impact at
Home
The firearm export 90-day pause expired
at the end of last month. It is suspected
BIS will publish its interim final rule in
the beginning of March with a public
comment period. Regarding “national
security concerns” abroad, the pause
should reveal very little. Notably, all
firearm and ammunition exports are
– and always were – subject to both
Defense and State Department review,
and either can halt the export if there
are security or human rights concerns.
This was the case for many years before
the announced pause and remains the
case today. Firearm and ammunition
license applications undergo a 100
percent end-user check by the BIS
Office of Export Enforcement (OEE),
regardless of how long an exporting
company has been doing business with
that customer, regardless of how many
times the buyer was subjected to an
end-user check and regardless of whether
BIS has no derogatory information on
that customer, even if the end-user was
recently approved. At present, no other
commodity is subject to the same 100
percent check.
Further, the Bureau of Alcohol,
Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives
(ATF) reported that 11 percent – or
18,749 – firearms recovered at crime
scenes in foreign nations were lawfully
exported from the United States and later
recovered between 2017-2021. That’s not
the entire picture, though. NSSF pointed
out in a White Paper that these firearms
recovered at crime scenes in a foreign
nation and traced represent less than
one percent of the total – or 2,793,002 –
firearms that were lawfully exported out
of the United States between 2016 and
2020.
At home, the impact has been
significantly larger and immediately felt
by US companies and their employees.
During a House committee hearing in
December, Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.)
questioned Biden administration officials
about the pause and anticipated domestic
impacts.
“Firearm manufacturers have told
me they were given no warning. Also,
why were the firearms industry – why
were they singled out in this issue?” Rep.
Burchett asked.
“We look at regional stability issues and
particularly in the Western hemisphere,
we have gun violence issues that lead to
regional instability,” Assistant Secretary
of Commerce for Export Administration
within BIS, Thea Rozman Kendler
answered.
“But these people are in business,
ma’am. And if you cut them off…
governments can just print more money.
These people can’t,” Congressman
Burchett said.
Assistant Secretary Kendler admitted
the pause is, in fact, having a negative
impact on commerce licenses being
sought.
“NATO license applications are still
being processed. That’s about, frankly,
75 percent by value of our license
applications that we continue to process,”
she said.
In other words, Kendler admitted
there was a change in policy that has
reduced – by at least 25 percent – the
number of commercial firearm export
licenses by American firearm industry
manufacturers. That’s a tremendous dent
in the livelihoods of Americans making a
living in the firearm industry.
GREAT GEAR
THE RISE OF
SEMI-AUTOMATIC
AIRGUNS
This month, we delve into the evolving world of airguns – a segment that has seen
remarkable technological advancements over the years. Among the most exciting
developments is the rise of semi-automatic airguns, which have captivated enthusiasts
with their blend of precision, power, and cutting-edge technology. This feature explores
the forefront of semi-automatic airgun innovation, highlighting their technology and
the ground-breaking features that set them apart.
The technological leap
The transformation of airguns from
simple backyard shooters to sophisticated
semi-automatic powerhouses is a narrative
of technological innovation and precision
engineering. Today’s semi-automatic
airguns represent the pinnacle of what
airgun technology can achieve, blending
traditional mechanics with modern
advancements to create firearms that are
both powerful and efficient.
Central to the operation of highperformance
semi-automatic airguns
is the PCP system. Unlike traditional
spring-piston or CO2-powered airguns,
PCP airguns use a reservoir of compressed
air. This reservoir is pre-charged to high
pressures, often up to 3,000 psi or more.
The key benefit of PCP systems is their
ability to provide a consistent, powerful
propulsion for multiple shots, without
the need for recharging the air supply
after every shot. This makes PCP airguns
particularly effective for situations
requiring multiple quick-succession shots,
such as in competitive shooting or pest
control.
The efficiency of today’s semi-automatic
airguns is enhanced by their ability to
maintain consistent velocity and trajectory
shot after shot, thanks to advanced air
regulation systems. These systems ensure
that each pellet is propelled with the same
amount of force, providing consistent
performance that is essential for both
competitive shooting and hunting.
Moreover, the firepower of these airguns
has seen significant improvements, with
many models capable of delivering pellets
at velocities that rival traditional firearms.
The versatility of semi-automatic
airguns is perhaps best illustrated by their
widespread use across various shooting
disciplines. In competitive arenas, the
precision and fast shooting capabilities of
34 WWW.GUNTRADEWORLD.COM

SEMI-AUTOMATIC AIRGUNS
these airguns give shooters a competitive
edge. For hunters and pest controllers,
the ability to fire multiple shots quickly
without reloading is invaluable, especially
when dealing with small, fast-moving
targets. Even recreational shooters benefit
from the advancements in semi-automatic
airguns, enjoying a more engaging and
enjoyable shooting experience.
Transformative innovations
The advancements driving the semiautomatic
airgun revolution are as
exciting as they are transformative, with
each innovation enhancing both the
performance and user experience of these
modern airguns. Electronic triggers for
example represent a significant leap in
shooting technology, offering unmatched
precision. These triggers eliminate the
mechanical link between the trigger and
the valve, instead using electronic controls
to release air. The result is a trigger pull
that is incredibly light and can be finely
adjusted to the shooter’s preference,
ensuring a crisp, immediate response. This
level of control dramatically reduces shot
disruption and increases accuracy, which
is critical during competitive shooting and
precise hunting scenarios.
One of the other core advancements
in semi-automatic airguns is the
development of self-indexing magazines.
These magazines automatically rotate
to the next pellet or slug after each
shot, facilitating rapid, consecutive
firing without manual intervention.
This feature is particularly beneficial in
competitive shooting and pest control,
where speed and reliability are crucial. The
self-indexing system not only improves
firing rate but also enhances the overall
reliability of the airgun, ensuring that
each shot is loaded correctly and ready to
fi r e .
Then there are the incorporated
digital displays that provide real-time
information about the airgun’s status.
These displays can show the remaining
air pressure, shot count, and sometimes
even ballistic data. For shooters, this
means enhanced management of their
equipment, allowing them to make
adjustments on the fly and maintain
optimal performance throughout their
activity. This feature is particularly
valuable in competitions or long hunting
sessions where understanding the airgun’s
condition is crucial for success.
Beyond the basic mechanics, some
semi-automatic airguns are now
integrating smart technologies that sync
with mobile devices to track performance,
log shooting sessions, and even guide
maintenance schedules. This integration
of technology not only enhances the
shooting experience but also aids in
the care and longevity of the airgun by
ensuring it is operating within its optimal
parameters.
Design meets performance
The effectiveness of semi-automatic
airguns extends beyond their advanced
technology; their design plays a crucial
role in their appeal and functionality.
Manufacturers meticulously craft these
airguns to merge form with function,
emphasising ergonomics, material
innovation, and a user-friendly layout to
enhance the overall shooting experience.
Ergonomic design is paramount
in modern semi-automatic airguns.
Designers focus on how the airgun feels
in the hand and against the shoulder,
ensuring that it is comfortable for
extended use. This includes considering
the grip design, balance, and the weight
distribution of the airgun. Features like
adjustable cheek rests and grips are
common, allowing users to customise
the fit to their personal comfort, which
can significantly improve accuracy and
control during shooting sessions.
Adjustable stocks are a significant
feature, tailored to enhance comfort
and performance. They allow shooters
to modify the length of pull and cheek
riser position, ensuring a perfect
alignment with sights or scopes. This
adaptability is not just about comfort; it
directly influences the shooter’s ability
to aim consistently and control the
airgun, which is particularly beneficial
in competitive shooting and precision
hunting scenarios.
The use of advanced, lightweight
materials such as carbon fibre or
reinforced polymers in airgun
construction reduces overall weight
without compromising durability. This
lightness is crucial for manoeuvrability
and ease of use, especially in dynamic
shooting environments or when the
airgun is used for extended periods.
It also helps in reducing shooter
fatigue, a critical factor during lengthy
competitions or hunting trips.
The cutting edge
These technological innovations and
design elements have made semiautomatic
airguns some of the most
advanced firearms available today. They
blend the best of airgun heritage with
the possibilities offered by modern
technology, providing users with a
powerful, precise, and enjoyable shooting
experience. This continuous refinement
not only reflects the evolving demands of
shooters but also pushes the boundaries
of what airguns can achieve in both
competitive and casual settings.
When exploring the cutting edge
of airgun technology, semi-automatic
airguns offer a thrilling and efficient
shooting experience. Whether you’re a
seasoned shooter or new to the airgun
scene, these marvels of engineering
deserve a closer look. We encourage you
to experience the power and precision of
semi-automatic airguns first-hand and
join us in anticipation of what the future
holds for this exciting segment. GTW
A THRIVIng
InDusTRY
the global market for airguns and pellets continues to thrive, with sales remaining robust, although at less
buoyant levels than we witnessed during the airgun boom caused in big part by the Covid crisis.
During the lockdowns, many discovered that airguns offered a perfect outdoor activity for family fun. this
triggered a massive increase in demand which has now normalised. previously underestimated, the improved
quality, aesthetics, and power of modern airguns have captured the aention of both seasoned shooters and
beginners. Airguns consistently provide excellent entertainment and value. Additionally, higher-end models are
now used in long-range competitions, large game hunting, and professional pest management.
DEMAND CONTINUES TO SOAR
Year after year, airgun sales continue
to rise impressively. Our latest annual
survey reveals that 40 per cent of gun
shop owners reported an increase in
sales over the last year – a continuation
of an already upward trend. That said,
another 40 per cent claim sales have
stabilised. Contrastingly, only 20 per cent
experienced a decline of already high
levels.
Given these encouraging statistics, an
increasing number of retailers are either
fully choosing for or finding themselves
compelled to focus on airguns. As stricter
gun laws slow down firearm sales in
several countries and regions, many shops
are turning to airguns as their lifeline.
Consequently, numerous retailers have
evolved into specialists in the airgun
market, enhancing their presence both
online and offline. For those not yet
involved in this segment, it’s worth taking
a serious look at the potential benefits.
After all, who wouldn’t want a piece of
this thriving market?
KEY DRIVERS IN AIRGUN SALES
In the airgun market, power and
price significantly influence buyer
decisions, as indicated by our recent
survey. Both factors rank equally as
top considerations for consumers, with
looks and style also being an important,
albeit secondary, factor. Interestingly,
size and weight only influences 20 per
cent of purchasing decisions. This opens
considerable opportunities for emerging
brands aiming to carve out a niche
by focusing on providing good value,
impressive power, and a discriminating
design. What we see a lot popping up
are tactical ‘black rifle’ designs with
synthetic stocks, thumbholes, and rails.
Next to full length airguns, bullpup
and pistol designs are also prevalent
nowadays.
is the cocking motion pulling a piston
to the rear inside the receiver while
compressing a spring. When pulling the
trigger, the spring is released, causing
the piston to generate compressed air,
pushing the pellet out of the barrel. Not
only does releasing the spring cause
noise, but it also triggers movement in
the airgun before the pellet leaves the
barrel. In entry to medium powered air
rifles, this is not exactly an issue. The
most powerful spring powered airguns
however take some practice to shoot
accurately and consistently. All in all,
these spring and piston airguns are sturdy,
straightforward, and easy to operate. The
only other thing one needs for hours of
quiet fun is a tin of pellets.
GROWING PCP CATEGORY
PCP’s (Pre-Charged Pneumatic guns)
have grown to become a vital part of
the airgun business. According to our
survey, more than one in every three
airguns sold today is of the PCP type.
No wonder the PCP market with long
established brands sees an influx of
both new contenders and major spring/
piston brands introducing their own
take on PCP airguns. All this increasing
competition in the PCP market has
brought some quite reasonably priced
and competent models.
Recent developments in PCP designs
have brought us very high-powered air
rifles, some in much larger calibres than
the traditional .177, .22 and .25. PCP
rifles in big bore calibres such as 7.62,
.357, .45, .50 and even a few larger ones
are offered by several brands. Projectiles
also continually undergo development
similar to that in the big-bore world.
H&N for example developed their Slug
HP pellet. This type was developed for
air rifles with a muzzle energy of ideally
40 to 60 Joules and differs significantly
from usual pellets due to its bullet shape.
Specifically designed for powerful air
rifles to precisely hit targets at 50, 100
or even 200 meters distance.
A distinct subtype in PCP designs
is that of the bullpup rifle. With their
barrels nearly running all the way to the
buttstock, bullpup rifles are the epitome
of compactness combined with the
power and accuracy of a full-size rifle.
SHIFTING DEMOGRAPHICS
There’s a notable trend of younger
buyers, particularly those under 40, and
even under 25, increasingly engaging
with airguns, while the participation of
women in the sport has remained stable.
PURCHASING MOTIVATIONS
AND USAGE
The main usage of airguns continues
to be recreational shooting, which
accounts for 50 percent of airgun use,
followed by small game hunting at
35 percent, competitive shooting at
5 percent and field target shooting at
10%. Airguns are particularly appealing
for leisure activities due to their low
power and noise, making them ideal for
backyard target practice and plinking
without disturbing neighbours. They
are also excellent for training new
shooters in accuracy and safety due
to their cost-effectiveness compared
to firearms. While typically used for
smaller game like rabbits and squirrels,
larger species have also been successfully
hunted with high-powered airguns,
though users should check local
regulations before hunting.
Additionally, airguns are effectively
used in pest control, dispatching various
pests quietly and efficiently. The power,
accuracy, and quiet operation of PCP
air rifles make them outstanding for
these purposes. Competitive shooting
is another area where airguns excel,
with specific events designed for them
such as 10-meter, silhouette, and field
target competitions, utilising specially
designed rifles and pistols.
FUTURE OUTLOOK
Airguns continue to play a significant
role in various aspects of life, offering
affordable fun and practicality across
entry-level to premium models. With
their ability to provide precision,
power, and appealing designs, airguns
cater to hunters, competitors, and
casual users alike. The airgun industry
is witnessing continual growth in
quality and technology as manufacturers
respond to increasing consumer
demands. With robust global sales,
airguns represent a vital segment of the
gun trade. As the market welcomes new
innovations from both established and
emerging brands, and more retailers
embrace airguns, the industry’s future
appears promising and vibrant. GTW
D O I N G b U S I N E S S w I T h . . .
Italy, a land renowned for its rich cultural
heritage, stunning landscapes, and culinary
delights, also boasts a vibrant hunting
industry deeply intertwined with its history
and traditions. From the majestic Alps in the
north to the sun-drenched hills of Tuscany
and the rugged coastlines of the south, Italy
offers a diverse array of hunting opportunities,
attracting enthusiasts from around the globe.
In this exploration, we delve into the multilayered
world of the Italian hunting industry,
uncovering its rich tapestry of traditions,
practices, and conservation efforts.
The tradition of
hunting runs deep
in Italy’s cultural
fabric, dating back
centuries to the era of ancient
civilisations. Throughout
history, hunting has been
more than a mere pastime—it
has been an integral part of
Italian life, with rituals and
customs passed down through
generations. Today, hunting
remains an important cultural
touchstone, connecting Italians
to their heritage and the natural
world.
Diverse Hunting Landscapes
Italy’s diverse geography
offers a bounty of hunting
landscapes, ranging from
snow-capped mountains to lush
forests and coastal wetlands.
In the north, the Alps provide
a haven for alpine hunting
pursuits, including chamois,
ibex, and red deer. Moving
southward, the rolling hills
of Tuscany and Umbria offer
prime hunting grounds for wild
boar and roe deer. Along the
coast, marshlands teem with
waterfowl, while the islands of
Sardinia and Sicily offer unique
hunting opportunities for
indigenous species.
A Sanctuary for Biodiversity
Beyond its cultural significance,
hunting plays a crucial
role in Italy’s conservation
efforts, serving as a tool for
wildlife management and
habitat preservation. Through
sustainable hunting practices
and strict regulations, Italian
authorities strive to maintain
biodiversity and ensure
the health of ecosystems.
Conservation initiatives such
as habitat restoration, captive
breeding programs, and
wildlife research are integral
to safeguarding Italy’s natural
heritage for future generations.
A Thriving Industry
The Italian hunting industry
encompasses a wide range
of stakeholders, including
hunters, outfitters, guides,
manufacturers, and
conservation organisations.
From boutique hunting lodges
nestled in the countryside to
high-end outfitters offering
bespoke hunting experiences,
the industry caters to a diverse
clientele seeking adventure
and camaraderie in the great
outdoors. Moreover, Italy’s
reputation for craftsmanship
extends to its hunting industry,
with artisans producing highquality
firearms, optics, and
hunting gear sought after by
enthusiasts worldwide.
Challenges and
Opportunities
Despite its storied history
and cultural significance, the
Italian hunting industry faces
challenges in the modern era.
Urbanisation, agricultural
intensification, and changing
land use patterns pose threats
to wildlife habitat and
migration corridors. Moreover,
concerns over poaching,
illegal hunting, and wildlife
trafficking demand vigilant
enforcement of conservation
laws and regulations. However,
these challenges also present
opportunities for collaboration
and innovation, with
www.guntradeworld.com 41

usiness
stakeholders working together
to promote sustainable
hunting practices, expand
habitat protection, and engage
in conservation education and
outreach efforts.
Preserving Tradition,
Embracing Innovation
As Italy navigates the
complexities of the 21st
century, the hunting industry
stands at a crossroads,
balancing tradition with
innovation, conservation
with economic development.
Embracing new technologies,
such as GPS tracking, trail
cameras, and digital mapping
tools, can enhance wildlife
management efforts and
improve hunting experiences.
Moreover, promoting
ecotourism and sustainable
hunting tourism can generate
economic benefits for rural
communities while fostering a
deeper appreciation for nature
and wildlife conservation.
Looking Ahead
As Italy’s hunting industry
evolves, it must remain
rooted in the principles of
conservation, stewardship
and respect for the natural
world. By preserving its rich
hunting heritage, embracing
sustainable practices, and
fostering collaboration among
stakeholders, Italy can ensure
that its hunting traditions
endure for generations to
come. In doing so, it can
continue to offer hunters from
around the world a glimpse
into its timeless landscapes
and storied past, ensuring that
the spirit of the hunt remains
alive and well in the Italian
countryside.
Precision Exporting
Exporting hunting and
shooting products to
Italy presents a strategic
opportunity for companies
in this sector for several
compelling reasons. Italy not
only boasts a rich heritage
in hunting and shooting
sports but also represents a
significant market within
the European Union (EU)
for these activities. The
reasons for exporting to Italy
encompass cultural, economic,
and strategic dimensions,
which together create a
favourable environment for
businesses looking to expand
their international footprint.
1. Strong Tradition and Market
Demand
Italy has a deep-rooted
tradition in hunting and
shooting sports, with a
significant portion of the
population engaging in
these activities. This cultural
affinity translates into a steady
demand for hunting rifles,
shotguns, ammunition and
related accessories. Companies
exporting to Italy can tap into
this established market, where
there is a continuous need for
high-quality and innovative
products.
2. Reputation for Craftsmanship
and Quality
Italian manufacturers are
globally renowned for their
craftsmanship and quality,
especially in the firearms
sector. Exporting to a market
that values high-quality
products can be highly
beneficial for companies that
pride themselves on excellence
in manufacturing. There’s
an opportunity to position
products as premium offerings
in a market that appreciates
and is willing to pay for
superior quality.
3. Strategic Gateway to the
European Market
Italy serves as a strategic entry
point to the broader European
market. Success in the Italian
market can provide valuable
brand recognition and pave
the way for expansion into
other European countries. The
EU’s harmonised regulations
on firearms and related
products mean that companies
navigating Italy’s regulatory
landscape can more easily
adapt to other EU markets.
4. Opportunities for Niche
Products
The Italian market is diverse,
with demand ranging from
traditional hunting firearms
to modern shooting sports
equipment. Companies
specialising in niche products,
such as high-precision rifles,
custom firearms, or innovative
shooting accessories, can
42 www.guntradeworld.com

Red deer.
The Italian market is home
to numerous prestigious
manufacturers and brands
in the hunting and shooting
industry. Exporting to Italy
can open up opportunities
for collaboration, including
joint ventures, research and
development partnerships,
and innovation in product
design and technology. These
collaborations can enhance a
company’s product offerings
and competitive edge both in
Italy and globally.
Hunting in Italy
Italy offers a diverse range
of wildlife for hunting
enthusiasts, with various
species inhabiting its diverse
landscapes, from the Alps in
the north to the Mediterranean
coast in the south. Some of the
notable animals that hunters
may pursue in Italy include:
Wild Boar (Cinghiale): Wild
boar hunting is popular
throughout Italy, with large
populations found in forests
and agricultural areas. Hunters
often pursue wild boar for
their challenging behaviour
and prized meat.
Red Deer (Cervo): Red deer
are among the largest game
animals in Italy and are found
primarily in the Alpine and
Apennine regions. Hunting red
deer is a traditional pursuit in
Italy, especially during the fall
rutting season.
Roe Deer (Capriolo): Roe
deer are widely distributed
across Italy’s woodlands
and agricultural landscapes.
Hunting roe deer is a popular
activity, particularly in central
and northern regions.
find specific segments of
the market to target. Italy’s
appreciation for craftsmanship
and innovation makes it an
ideal market for companies
offering unique or specialised
products.
5. Favourable Trade Agreements
and Regulatory Environment
Italy, as a member of the
EU, benefits from various
trade agreements that can
facilitate easier and more costeffective
export processes for
companies outside the Union.
Additionally, understanding
and complying with Italy’s
regulatory requirements for
hunting and shooting products
can provide exporters with
valuable experience in meeting
the EU’s standards, which
are among the most stringent
globally.
6. Growing Interest in Outdoor
and Recreational Activities
There has been a noticeable
increase in interest in
outdoor and recreational
activities, including hunting
and shooting sports, partly
driven by lifestyle trends
and a growing emphasis on
leisure and wellness brought
about, in part by the Covid-19
Pandemic. This trend offers
an expanding market for
companies that can cater to
newcomers and enthusiasts
alike, with products that
appeal to a range of skills and
interests.
7. Collaborative Opportunities
for Innovation and
Development
Fallow Deer (Daino): Fallow
deer populations are present
in various regions of Italy,
including wooded areas and
parklands. Hunting fallow deer
offers hunters the opportunity
to pursue a challenging and
elusive quarry.
Mouflon (Mufle): Mouflon,
a species of wild sheep, inhabit
mountainous and hilly terrain
in Italy. Hunting mouflon is a
prized pursuit, with their wary
nature and impressive horns
making them a sought-after
trophy.
www.guntradeworld.com 43

usiness
Roe deer.
chamois.
Chamois (Camoscio): Chamois
are agile mountain-dwelling
ungulates found in the Alps and
Apennines. Hunting chamois
requires skill and endurance, as
they inhabit rugged and remote
terrain.
European Hare (Lepre):
European hare are widespread
across Italy’s agricultural
landscapes and grasslands.
Hunting hare with hounds
or using traditional stalking
methods is a popular pastime.
Woodcock (Beccaccia): Woodcock
are migratory game birds that
inhabit woodland and marshy
areas. Hunting woodcock is
a cherished tradition in Italy,
with hunters often employing
specialised dogs to flush and
retrieve the birds.
Quail (Quaglia): Quail are small
game birds found in agricultural
areas and grasslands. Hunting
quail is a popular activity,
particularly during the spring
and autumn migration seasons.
Partridge (Perdix): Partridge
species, such as the red-legged
partridge, inhabit farmland
and scrubland throughout
Italy. Hunting partridge
with pointing dogs or using
traditional walking-up methods
is a favoured pursuit.
It’s important for hunters
to familiarise themselves with
local hunting regulations,
seasons, and quotas, as well as
to obtain the necessary permits
and licenses before pursuing
game in Italy. Additionally,
conservation efforts and
sustainable hunting practices
are essential for preserving
Italy’s rich biodiversity and
ensuring the long-term viability
of hunting opportunities.
Law Enforcement
Italian law enforcement is a
multifaceted system comprised
of several agencies tasked with
maintaining public safety,
enforcing laws, and combating
crime across the country. The
primary agencies responsible
for law enforcement in Italy
include the Polizia di Stato
(State Police), Carabinieri,
Guardia di Finanza
(Finance Police), and Polizia
Penitenziaria (Penitentiary
Police). Each agency has
specific responsibilities
and jurisdictions, working
collaboratively to ensure the
safety and security of Italian
citizens and residents.
The Polizia di Stato, or State
Police, is a civilian national
police force responsible for
general law enforcement duties,
crime prevention, traffic control,
and providing security in
urban areas. They also handle
immigration issues and border
control, as well as counterterrorism
operations.
The Carabinieri is a military
police force that operates under
the Ministry of Defense and
has jurisdiction over rural
areas, smaller towns, and rural
crime prevention. They also
handle various duties such
as patrolling, investigations,
public order maintenance,
and providing support during
emergencies.
The Guardia di Finanza, or
Finance Police, is responsible
for combating financial crimes,
smuggling, tax evasion, and
other economic offenses. They
operate under the Ministry
of Economy and Finance and
have jurisdiction over customs,
excise, and financial regulations.
The Polizia Penitenziaria, or
Penitentiary Police, oversees
the management and security
of prisons and detention
facilities across Italy. They are
responsible for maintaining
order within prisons, ensuring
the safety of inmates and staff,
and preventing escapes or
disturbances.
In addition to these main
agencies, Italy also has various
specialised units and task
forces dedicated to specific
areas of law enforcement,
such as counter-terrorism,
cybercrime, narcotics
trafficking, and organised crime.
These units work together to
address emerging threats and
coordinate efforts to combat
criminal activities effectively.
HUGLU’S TIME-HONOURED
TRADITION IN FIREARM
EXCELLENCE
With a legacy steeped in tradition and a commitment to excellence, Gun Trade World
delves into how Huglu’s historical roots have flourished into a globally recognised
brand, synonymous with quality, precision, and craftsmanship.
The history and ethos of Huglu, a
brand synonymous with quality
craftsmanship, provides a
compelling narrative of tradition
fused with innovation. This
journey, which began during the turbulent
times of the First World War, is not just
proof of the brand’s enduring legacy but
also to the evolution of a craft that has
transcended generations and geographical
boundaries.
The origins of Huglu can be traced
back to the acquaintance of a senior
relative, Mustafa, with firearms during
his conscription in the army. This initial
encounter laid the foundation for a
tradition that would grow to define the
town of Huglu, fostering a community
deeply ingrained in the art, industry, and
development of firearm manufacturing.
The Huglu revolution
The transformation from individual
craftsmanship to a formalised corporate
structure in 1962 marked a pivotal
moment in Huglu’s history. The
establishment of the Huglu Hunting
Firearms Cooperative, comprising
165 members, emphasised a collective
ambition to pursue excellence in the field
of shotgun manufacturing. The choice of a
double-headed eagle as the symbol of the
cooperative, emblematic of dignity and
power, signifies the craftsmen’s confidence
in their skills and the quality of their
creations. This transition facilitated a
more organised and systematic approach
to manufacturing, allowing Huglu to
diversify its product range and elevate
the standard of quality, thereby securing
its place among the top worldwide
manufacturers of hunting firearms.
48 www.guntradeworld.com

The narrative of Huglu is
characterised by a steadfast
commitment to safety, quality, and
innovation. This commitment is
evidenced by the rigorous safety
tests each shotgun undergoes,
ensuring that they meet the
highest standards of quality and
reliability. The cooperative’s vision
of an accident-free shooting
experience highlights the priority
placed on safety, a “big promise”
that Huglu endeavours to fulfil
with every firearm produced.
Global operation
Furthermore, Huglu’s adoption
of internationally recognised
management systems, such as
ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO
45001, reflects its dedication to
continuous improvement and
sustainable practices, reinforcing
its reputation in the domestic and
international markets. Operating
from a significant manufacturing
space and supported by a robust
community of members and
employees, Huglu has achieved
remarkable success in exporting its
products to over 50 countries. This
global recognition is not only a
testament to the brand’s adherence
to quality and innovation but
also to its ability to adapt to the
evolving demands of the market
while staying true to its roots in
craftsmanship. In essence, the
story of Huglu is a narrative of
transformation and perseverance,
of a humble beginning rooted
in necessity that blossomed
into a global brand revered
for its quality, innovation, and
commitment to safety. Through
its journey, Huglu has not only
preserved the traditional art of
shotgun manufacturing but has
also embraced the challenges of
modernity, ensuring that its legacy
will continue to inspire and endure
for generations to come.
Featured offerings
The Huglu brand, renowned for
its dedication to quality and, has
recently introduced two products
attention. These offerings were
trade shows, capturing the interest
KAHR FIREARMS
Introducing the
Aloha Deagle, a tribute
to Polynesian Valor
In a remarkable fusion of artistry and firepower, the Aloha Deagle emerges as a vibrant
homage to the legendary warriors of Polynesia. This exclusive firearm is not merely a tool
of defence but a masterfully crafted piece of history, celebrating the rich cultural tapestry of
the Pacific Islands.
The Aloha Deagle is adorned with
intricate designs inspired by Kākau
and Māori tattoos, emblematic
of strength, bravery, and mana. These
motifs pay tribute to the storied legacy
of Polynesian warriors, whose tales
of valour and skill have transcended
generations. The firearm’s aesthetics
are further enriched with depictions of
island flowers, symbolising the resilience
and enduring spirit of these ancient
protectors.
A palette inspired by the ocean’s
majestic beauty - from the white crests
of breaking waves to the myriad shades
of blue in its depths - gives the Aloha
Deagle its distinctive appearance. The
grips feature an engraved sea turtle, a
revered symbol in Polynesian culture
representing strength and good fortune,
enhancing the firearm’s significance as a
tribute to heritage and tradition.
Craftsmanship extends beyond the
visual, with each gun boasting a layered
Cerakote finish. This includes handmasked
pearlescent white, black, and a
colour-shifting blue/purple Cerakote
clear coat. The controls and magazine
base are accented in blue/green,
complementing the overall aesthetic with
a nod to the vibrant hues of the Pacific.
The Aloha Deagle is built on
the formidable Magnum Research
DE50L6IMB pistol, renowned for its
reliability and power. Chambered in .50
AE calibre, it features a 6-inch barrel
equipped with a picatinny optics rail
and an integral muzzle brake, optimising
performance without sacrificing the
artistic integrity of the design. The
custom engraved aluminium grips
and the pearlescent white aluminium
frame against the steel barrel and slide
underscore the Aloha Deagle’s status as a
functional work of art.
The Aloha Deagle stands as a
testament to the fusion of cultural
homage and modern craftsmanship,
offering a unique piece for collectors and
enthusiasts who value the intertwining of
history, art and unparalleled firepower.
The Magnum Story
Magnum Research was founded in 1979,
focused on bringing the world’s finest
hunting handguns to market, beginning
with the famous Desert Eagle pistol. The
Desert Eagle is the first commercially
successful autoloader chambered in a
magnum cartridge, and the only one
to remain in continuous production.
Offered in .44 Magnum, .357 Magnum,
.50 AE, and .429 DE, the Desert Eagle
is a cultural icon appearing in countless
movies, television shows, and video
games. Magnum Research followed it
with the Biggest Finest Revolver (BFR),
giving hunters a super accurate, reliable
handgun, in a vast number of calibres.
Other popular Magnum Research
products include the Baby Eagle, and
MR1911 pistols; and the SwitchBolt,
Magnum Research was purchased by
Kahr Firearms Group, becoming the third
WELLGUN
Revolutionising firearm
maintenance in Poland
The necessity for high-quality firearm maintenance products cannot be overstated. Piotr
Opaliński, a keen hunter and sports shooter from Poland, encountered this very need firsthand,
which led to the inception of WellGun, a brand looking to redefine the standards of
gun cleaning solvents in the Polish market and beyond.
The Origin of WellGun
Piotr’s journey into the creation of
WellGun began with a personal quest
for a satisfactory gun cleaning kit,
which was noticeably absent in Poland.
“When I bought my first rifle, the lack
of good quality gun cleaning solvents on
the Polish market was apparent,” Piotr
recounts.
This gap in the market prompted him
to look abroad, ultimately importing an
American cleaning kit from Germany.
The landscape of firearm ownership
in Poland saw a dramatic change post-
2011, following amendments to the act
on weapons and ammunition. This period
marked a significant rise in firearms
licensing, accompanied by a burgeoning
interest in modern weaponry and a
growing recognition of the importance of
regular maintenance.
Despite this increased interest, highquality
gun solvents remained a luxury,
predominantly imported and priced
steeply. Identifying this gap, Piotr was
driven by his passion for hunting and
sports shooting to embark on a journey
in 2017 that would lead to the birth
of WellGun. His vision was clear: to
produce top-notch weapon cleaners
using safe, ecological, and cost-effective
ingredients.
Crafting Excellence with Community
Insights
The development of WellGun’s products
was a collaborative effort, tapping into
the rich insights and experiences of fellow
hunters, sport shooters and uniformed
service employees. This inclusive approach
ensured the creation of products that
resonated with the diverse needs of gun
users, allowing for safer and more precise
shooting experiences, whilst also extending
the life of firearms.
A Polish Brand with Global Ambitions
WellGun emerges as a family-operated
business based in Gdynia, rooted in Piotr’s
lifelong passion for shooting sports and
hunting. The formulation of WellGun’s
professional gun solvents was inspired by
extensive discussions with a community
deeply embedded in the world of firearms.
These conversations, combined with Piotr’s
own experiences, led to the development
of safe, effective, and eco-friendly cleaning
solutions tailored for handguns, sports,
and hunting weapons.
With a focus on fostering positive
relationships both within the company
and with its partners, WellGun is poised
to make significant strides in the firearms
maintenance industry. The company
warmly invites weapon shop owners,
wholesalers, and brokers worldwide to
explore partnership opportunities.
Key Product
Each product is meticulously formulated
to cater to the specific needs of firearm
maintenance, blending effectiveness with
safety and environmental consciousness.
WellGun Oil & Grease
Purpose: Lubrication and Preservation
Volume: 65ml
Description: This advanced lubricant
under any weather condition. It’s
colourless and odourless, creating a thin,
durable film that protects the metal
evaporates post-shot, offering antistatic
your firearm’s lifespan.
Versatile Performance
Whether you’re breaking clays on the
range or competing in a tournament,
Fossari shotguns rise to the occasion.
Available in a variety of configurations,
there’s a
Fossari
suit every
shooter’s
needs.
Unwavering
Quality
Assurance
Backed by
F.A.I.R.’s decades of experience and
commitment to quality, Fossari shotguns
undergo rigorous testing to ensure
flawless performance and durability. With
Fossari, you can trust that you’re getting
a shotgun that will perform reliably for
years to come.
Action
A standout characteristic of Fossari®
shotguns is their monolithic action
frame. Crafted from a single piece of
steel using a 5-axis CNC machine, this
design incorporates Boss type latches
with an oversized locking bolt aligned
with the barrel’s center. This ensures a
consistent and secure lockup over time.
To enhance durability and reliability,
critical components are forged from solid
blocks of steel.
XR-Trigger®
The Fossari® offers an optional XR-
TRIGGER®, an adjustable trigger
mechanism that allows for precise
millimetre adjustments. This feature
includes a conveniently placed button
at the top of the trigger assembly for
easy modification of the trigger’s travel
distance.
T-REX
The T-REX system features an
interchangeable iron fore-end
repositioning system. It includes
numbered, interchangeable inserts made
from special steel, allowing for precise
adjustments to maintain tightness and
correct any play resulting from extensive
use.
IRF
All Fossari® models come equipped
with a hardened, chromed steel
interchangeable insert at the breech,
enhancing the shotgun’s longevity and
resistance to wear and corrosion from
ammunition gases.
Barrels, XBore, & X-Cones
Fossari® barrels are crafted from a special
tri-alloy steel using the classic bar drilling
method, ensuring concentricity and
robustness. The X-CONES® feature long
forcing cones
that improve
steel shot
concentration
and velocity.
The internal
XBORES
geometry
reduces recoil
perception,
and a chrome
lining
enhances durability, corrosion resistance,
and shot pattern consistency.
XR-Stock®
The adjustable XR-STOCK®, available for
both right and left-handed models, offers
comprehensive adjustments for height,
inclination, and cast with millimetre
precision. Made from light alloy with
robust steel supports, the stock adjustment
plates are designed for maximum
durability. Various thickness washers are
included to customise the height.
Hinge Pins
Interchangeable hinge pins in Fossari®
models add to the shotgun’s value by
enhancing its long-term serviceability.
Overall Construction
The action bodies, trigger plates, fore-end
iron, and extractors of Fossari® models
are all meticulously milled from forged
ingots, ensuring top-tier quality. The
integral action body features a removable
and interchangeable trigger mechanism
XBD, that can be easily adjusted without
tools, simply by pressing a release button
on the trigger unit. This not only offers
a technical advantage but also simplifies
maintenance and so on…
Revolutionary
Extended Choke
Tube Case unveiled
MTM CASE-GARD
In a move that cements its position as a leader in innovative
storage solutions for the shooting and hunting sectors,
MTM Case-Gard has announced the release of its latest
product: the CT3XL-41 Extended Choke Tube Case.
This addition to the company’s respected
line up of shotgun choke tube cases
heralds a new era of convenience and
functionality for shooting enthusiasts across
the globe.
Since its inception in 1968, MTM Case-
Gard has been synonymous with quality and
innovation. A family-owned and operated
business, MTM has continually set the
benchmark for storage solutions in the
shooting sports industry. Each product in its
expansive range is born from a genuine need
identified either by the company’s inventive
team or, crucially, by feedback from the
shooting community itself. The CT3XL-41
Extended Choke Tube Case is no exception
to this tradition of excellence and userfocused
design.
Building on the success of its predecessors,
the CT3, CT6, and CT9 series cases, the
CT3XL-41 introduces a new mechanical,
free-rotating hinge. This feature allows
the case’s lid to lie completely flat when
opened, providing shooters with unhindered
access to their equipment. It’s a simple yet
thoughtful enhancement that significantly
improves the user experience, emphasising
MTM Case-Gard’s commitment to
functional innovation.
The case’s snap-lid closure system
is designed for security and ease of
use, ensuring that contents are safely
contained while remaining easily accessible.
Additionally, its Clear Smoke see-through
polyethylene construction offers quick
identification of contents, a thoughtful detail
that saves time and hassle for users.
Designed with the needs of modern
shooters in mind, the CT3XL-41 case
is tailored for extended choke tubes,
accommodating up to three extended-length
chokes for 10-, 12-, and 20-gauge shotguns.
This versatility ensures that it caters to a
wide audience, from casual enthusiasts
to professional shooters. The inclusion of
internal dividers and velour foam padding
within the case guarantees that these critical
components are kept secure and protected
during transport, mitigating the risk of
damage.
The launch of the CT3XL-41 Extended
Choke Tube Case is a testament to MTM
Case-Gard’s enduring legacy of innovation
and quality. It’s not just about creating
a product; it’s about solving a problem,
enhancing the shooting experience and
contributing to the shooting community’s
passion and dedication. This ethos is
reflected in every aspect of the company’s
operations, from design to customer service.
For shooting enthusiasts who value
quality, innovation, and functionality, the
CT3XL-41 Extended Choke Tube Case by
MTM Case-Gard represents a significant
advancement in equipment storage solutions.
It’s a product that not only meets the
practical needs of its users but also enhances
their overall shooting experience, solidifying
MTM’s legacy as a pioneer in the shooting
sports industry.
