His much-loved hobby became the inspiration for the Marciano’s successful restaurants, Lazy River Grill and Yellowstone Café. Each location is renowned for its fresh fish and eclectic display of vintage fishing tackle and outdoor equipment. While the decor delights anglers, the real eye candy at Lazy River are the plates of fish and seafood. “We’re known for our fish and have been successful because we know how to cook it,” Marciano said. “We don’t overcook our fish. When fish is overcooked, it loses moisture. As a result, the seasoning or breading becomes the dominant flavor, not the fish. I want you to be able to taste the flavor of the fish. It’s the signature fish served on the Shore Lunch and Dinner plates, which is seasoned, lightly breaded and fried crisp. Lazy River boasts some of the best burgers in town. “We use a high quality 81/19 blend Certified Angus Iowa Beef, which has a good texture, flavor and richness,” Marciano said. “Everything about it gives it good flavor that you’ll crave.” Besides burgers, fish and seafood, the menu sports a nice selection of sandwiches, salads, steaks and chicken along with chalkboard specials.
