WHITE WINE
DOMDECHANT WERNER
HOCHHEIMER KIRCHENSTÜCK
TROCKEN RIESLING
An elegant and wonderfully mineral Riesling, with tastes of
citrus fruits, apple, and apricot.
ORIGIN: Germany
REGION: Rheingau
GRAPE: Riesling
STORY
Domdechant Werner winery was established in 1780 and it’s now run by the family’s
8th generation. This winery produces slightly richer Rieslings than the Hochheimer
area is known for.
For Domdechant Werner winery, nature is the actual producer of their wines.
Their passion for wine and work means that they grow their Rieslings in the same
areas where their ancestors did generations ago. Thus, these wines come from the
historically important sites of Hochheim. This is the place where Riesling was first
mentioned in writing, back in 1435!
WINE MAKING
From Basel to the North Sea, the course of the river Rhine is northbound for nearly 1000
kilometres. The region has distinct climatic and geological conditions influences the
cultivation area of Rheingau, one of the smallest wine-growing regions in Germany.
This beautiful Riesling comes from a tiny, but highly recognized vineyard called
Kirchenstück. Sheltered from the wind, the vineyard is situated at the south-facing
mid-level slope, the prime location, in direct vicinity of the historical parish church.
FOOD PAIRING
The Kirchenstück Riesling is elegant and complex with a fine minerality. Its aroma and
taste of citrus fruits, apple, apricot, and herbs are elevated by crisp steely acidity.
It is a match made in heaven with spicy food, for example Asian-style salads, but also
with shellfish, poultry, and cured meat. Recommended serving temperature: 7–9 °C.
Alcohol may be harmful to your health!
