The more than 40 round trip tours in our hiking guide are marked<br />

in all three dimensions with these colors (blue, red and black). The<br />

same colors can also be found in our hiking map and on the hiking<br />

Demanding day trips for experienced people with appropriate<br />

condition, surefootedness and a head for heights in the southern<br />

mountains of the Hohe Tauern.<br />

Equipment: Ankle high hiking boots, drinks, snacks, backpack,<br />

warm / windproof clothing, rain protection, rescue foil, bandage,<br />

mobile phone.<br />

2. DIMENSION<br />

till 2,300 m<br />

Varied day hikes in the area of the Kitzbüheler Alpen (Pinzgauer<br />

grass mountains) and up to above the tree line of the Hohe Tauern.<br />

You should already have some hikes in your legs before you start with<br />

the tours in the 3 rd dimension.<br />

Equipment: Ankle high hiking boots, drinks, snacks, backpack,<br />

rain protection, mobile phone.<br />

Easy hikes along the valley, up to the tree line. The routes take from<br />

one hour up to half day. It is an ideal start for your hiking season and<br />

to prepare you for the 2 nd Dimension.<br />

strategies of animals and plants in the high mountains<br />

as you hike to "Eissee", where you'll see the foothills<br />

of the Sonnblick glacier.<br />

SCHÖDERSEE<br />

The tour leads to Ötzlsee, where you officially enter<br />

the Hohe Tauern National Park. It continues along a<br />

narrow path alongside the Schöderbach towards Arlscharte,<br />

deeper into the National Park. At the end of<br />

the tour, you’ll reach Schödersee, a special mountain<br />

lake referred to as a periodic lake due to its natural<br />

underground drainage, which fills only during snwomelt<br />

and periods of heavy precipitation.<br />

In 1986, the alpine region’s first bearded vulture was<br />

released in the Krumltal to reintroduce the “king of<br />

the skies”, once eradicated in our area. At brief stops,<br />

spotting scopes are set up to scan the peaks for the birds.<br />

With a bit of luck, you may also spot other wild animals.<br />

relaxed with the Glockner Bus into the incomparable<br />

world of experience in the heart of the Hohe Tauern<br />

National Park. The bus tour is accompanied by an experienced<br />

Scenic landscape framed by three-thousand-meter<br />

peaks – Along a well-developed forest road, the tour<br />

leads from the Tauernhaus to the picturesque Käfertal,<br />

situated below the “Großes Wiesbachhorn” with its impressive<br />

glacier world. Observe the inhabitants of alpine<br />

meadows and pastures, including around 300 beetle and<br />

almost 200 large butterfly species.<br />

The tour begins with the bus to Abichlalm, where the<br />

tour start. The path winds through a sparse larch forest<br />

to Aschamalm. From here, you’ll explore off-trail<br />

into the heart of the Sulzbachtäler wilderness area to<br />

the impressive Untersulzbachkees glacier. Experience<br />

the pristine nature of this untouched landscape, guaranteed<br />

NATIONAL PARK WORLDS<br />

The Hohe Tauern National Park Worlds will open ten new exhibition rooms<br />

in Mittersill in May <strong>2024</strong>. The reopening of the popular exhibition is much<br />

more than just a facelift. While visitor attractions such as the 360° cinema or<br />

the eagle flight panorama remain, they are now embedded within an entirely<br />

novel narrative concept. Visitors will explore themes such as „Marmot & Co,“<br />

„Peaks from the Seabed,“ or „Wild Waters.“ Emotionally, one follows the path<br />

from the highest spheres of the national park down to the alpine pasture<br />

and into the valley.<br />
