why our space, our face? As fierce advocates for a sex-positive movement, we are here to amplify the voices of Women Who Have Sex With Women (WSW) and Sapphic individuals, fiercely and unapologetically. The landscape of discourse surrounding WSW is often constrained by social constructs like homophobia and sexism, which reduce conversations to outdated debates on lifestyle, morality, and fixed ideas of gender roles and sexuality. When entwined with racism and the historical sexual objectification of women of color, these discussions are frequently marginalized, confined mostly to academic circles. Our initiative, “Our Space, Our Face,” is a radical Behavioral Health Intervention aimed at tackling the social determinants of health and dismantling the oppressive impacts of stigma, shame, sexism, racism, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, and other systemic barriers. This program champions the sexual health and freedom of women, empowering them to reclaim their narratives and bodies against a backdrop of systemic suppression.
