“You can live a healthy,
polyamorous, sexually liberated life!”
Since coming out as polyamorous, I’ve noticed
there’s a stigma around sexual health within
polycules. People on the outside assume
your partners are just to hook up with and
that there is no way to maintain sexual
safety as a polyamorous person. However,
there’s so much that goes into a healthy
sexual relationship while being polyamorous.
Polyamory is not inherently dirty or unsafe.
Folks in polyamorous relationships should
(and do!) regularly get tested, especially
before and after the introduction of a new
partner, as well as practice consent and
negotiation with all parties involved. These are
just two important things you can do to take
care of yourself and others while engaging
in polyamorous relationships. You can live a
healthy, polyamorous, sexually liberated life!
