LYMINGTON OPEN
GARDENS 2024
Lymington Open Gardens, a popular
event in the Lymington social calendar,
takes place on Sunday 26 May
(2-6pm) and features 13 private
gardens including 6 new ones.
The event is organised by the Friends of St Barbe Museum +
Art Gallery, with all profits helping the museum care for and
display its unique local collection, mount nationally recognised
art exhibitions and further the museum’s extensive outreach
programme. We aim to put the community at the heart of
everything we do.
ADVERTISING FEATURE
This year marks the museum’s 25th anniversary and we are
hoping that Lymington Open Gardens is a highlight among
several enjoyable events for the whole town to enjoy in 2024.
We all appreciate our green spaces, whether that be a small,
urban, courtyard garden, or a more expansive space that has
nurtured a growing family. Our gardens this year include one of
Lymington’s original town gardens, while another on the High
Street offers an oasis of calm created by church volunteers.
There is a newly designed garden for residents of a care home,
a garden behind a GP practice, a cottage garden, another
designed as a sensory garden, while others feature specimen
trees, advanced composting techniques, water features, pergolas
and patios in a variety of styles.
Admission to the gardens is by programme, costing £8 per adult,
available through-out May from St Barbe Museum in New Street
(open Monday-Saturday 10-4. The programme includes a map to
help you plan your afternoon. Teas with home-made cakes will
be available at the United Reformed Church on the High Street;
the Old School Cafe at the museum will also be open for teas,
Street (open Mon-Sat 10-4).
coffees, light lunches and cake. There will be a plant stall outside
the United Reformed Church and at 17 Ambleside Road.
Many of the gardens are within walking distance of each other so
we encourage you to park the car and explore the town on foot.
