This fact leads to our fourth pillar <strong>of</strong> Darwinian theory: You must<br />

get a date before you can have children. Mate selection becomes<br />

important in terms <strong>of</strong> the ability to spread properties through a<br />

population over generations. <strong>The</strong> more attractive an organism is,<br />

the more likely it is to mate and, thereby, pass on its traits to the<br />

next generation.<br />

Combined, these four principles give us the basis <strong>of</strong> Darwin’s<br />

theory, which forced a radical shift in the way we see the world.<br />

Although nature may be well-ordered, with interlocking parts, no<br />

longer is it a static system.<br />
