Morning Break As part of the government fruit scheme all children under the age of 7 are entitled to a free piece of fruit and until the age of 5 your child is entitled to free milk. This is prepared daily by the school cook and all children are encouraged to select a piece of fruit during morning break. You can also send your child to school with a healthy snack, but please do not send chocolate, biscuits, sweets or crisps. As an alternative, the school cook sells toast from the canteen at morning break time. This is ordered in class each morning and paid via ParentPay. Toast is priced at 25p. Illness If your child is unwell and unable to come to school please ring and let us know on the first day of absence before 9.30am. If your child falls ill during the school time we will contact you immediately. Please ensure that we have a number where you can be reached.

Water We encourage children to drink water throughout the school day by providing each child with a named clear bottle which can be filled with water. Research has shown that it is beneficial to children’s health and ability to learn if they drink water frequently throughout the day. Water coolers are sited in the corridors to provide filtered water for replenishing bottles. Bottles are clearly labelled with your child’s name, these are regularly washed and kept in school. Security Your child’s safety is of paramount importance to us. Therefore, we request that should it be necessary for anyone other than a child’s parents or those with parental responsibility to collect your son or daughter, staff are advised in advance. In the case of someone arriving to collect your children where staff have not been informed of a change of plan either verbally or by letter, a member of staff will telephone the parents to verify these arrangements. Whilst we understand this may cause some inconvenience, we are confident that you will endorse this procedure to ensure your child’s safety.
