A TALE OF TWO TERROIRS
In this case, it is Cognac’s Grande Champagne and Arturo Fuente from the Dominican Republic, both of them home to two
remarkable products, brought even closer together by the maturation of this Anejo N°46 format in Cognac barrels.
It isn’t often our panel reaches such unanimous agreement so quickly in our special cigar-focused tastings.
And we felt that with such a rewarding experience, we had to share the pleasure as soon as possible.
THE CIGAR
Arturo Fuente - Anejo N° 46 - Price: € 27.50 (FRA)
Very dark, shiny wrapper. The smoke is effective right from the start. The style is harmonious with dried fruit
aromatics, turning slightly more robust towards the middle of the smoke. Persistent roasted finish. This is a
satisfying cigar showing restraint.
THE BRANDY
94/100 Cognac Drouet - XO Ulysse - Price: € 110 (FRA)
Deep coppery colour with mahogany tints. The nose gradually emerges, driven by
perfumes of precious wood, bordering on exotic. Right from the attack the palate
shows great finesse and becomes increasingly powerful with a perfumed, silky feel.
A stellar pour!
The overall assessment: Truly effective with measured complexity, very palatable.
The pairing: Remarkable with this XO Ulysse by Maison Drouet that proves to be
very cooperative. The two companions share a honed sense of
harmony and restraint that leads straight to a calming sensation
and therefore to enjoyment.
GOSSET 2016: THE FINEST PEDIGREE
Gosset has unveiled its latest Grand Millésime which has been maturing
since the unrivalled 2016 vintage, a year marked by very distinctive weather conditions.
Cool, damp weather prevailed initially, followed by a hot, dry end to the season. This is a unique, elegant,
delicate wine showing structure, depth and fruitiness. The contrasting weather patterns ultimately provided
ideal conditions for crafting fine Champagne. It is both very different to its 2015 predecessor yet also very
complementary. The 2016 was bottled in June 2017 with 4g dosage per litre and successfully
balances freshness, fruit and vinosity whilst also preserving the integrity of the wine and
its pureness, the hallmarks of Maison Gosset.
