The Courage of Children: Boston and Beyond XXXIII
one who was persevering through everything no matter how terrified we all were about what might happen in the future, and I definitely wasn’t the only one who was proud of my mom whenever she came back from her infusions on Thursdays, even if she still had a long way to go. But nevertheless, I was the youngest, who still did as much as her father did. During this entire journey, I have stayed, and will continue to always stay, by Mom’s side, without a single hint of hesitation. This experience has proven to me that, in order to show courage, you must have fear or worry to join your bravery. I have learned how to be a reliable person and to stick with my loved ones, even when I’m tempted to be lazy or go out with friends. Everyone in my family has shown so much courage, especially my mother. We have all persevered through rough times, no matter how hard it has gotten. Today, I am still comforting my mom, and she is making extraordinary progress. She is healing up amazingly and has been so brave. Courage can be shown by the person who’s going through something, but also by the person who is persevering alongside them. I am proud of both myself and my mom, and I hope for us to continue fighting this together, even if the whole world seems to be against us.
