Specialized Seminars<br />
Selling to the Nonprofit<br />
In conjunction with the Minnesota American Indian Chamber<br />
of Commerce, <strong>MEDA</strong> sponsored “Selling to the Nonprofit,” a<br />
joint training session with the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits.<br />
Approximately 30 clients attended this informational seminar<br />
to learn how to tap into the purchasing power of the nonprofit<br />
sector.<br />
Ethical Leadership Roundtable<br />

<strong>MEDA</strong> partnered with Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota to offer<br />
SDK Software, Inc.<br />
an exclusive leadership roundtable for <strong>MEDA</strong> clients. Hosted by the<br />
Hendrickson Institute for Ethical Leadership, the multi-part forum offered clients an opportunity to share their<br />
views on personal values and business ethics to be documented and shared with future MBA students.<br />

Construction Law<br />
Nearly 50 <strong>MEDA</strong> clients gathered at a construction law seminar<br />
hosted by Rider Bennett to discuss legal traps faced by<br />
contractors and construction-related companies. Guest<br />
speakers, John Hauge, partner at Rider Bennett, LLP, and Jeff<br />
Kuster, Risk and Regulatory Services Manager at Acordia,<br />
presented invaluable information on contracting, mechanic’s<br />
liens, insurance and safety and health regulations, along<br />
with practicial tips for understanding contractual rights and<br />
obligations.<br />
The seminar also featured panelists from BOR-SON Construction,<br />
Ryan Companies US, Adolfson & Peterson and Greiner Construction<br />
who discussed key factors for building successful contractor and<br />
subcontractor relationships.<br />
Cargill/ McDonald’s Franchise Seminar<br />
Cargill provided special funding to address the needs of food related businesses. As a result, <strong>MEDA</strong><br />
connected with McDonald’s and their senior executives to host a seminar in which attendants could learn<br />
about the business of franchising. <strong>MEDA</strong> also participated in food safety training development with the City<br />
of Minneapolis as part of an Emergency Readiness Education Team.<br />
