JOURNEYS TOWARDS
REBUILDING
Supporting Displaced People in Ukraine
Two years into the Ukraine war, approximately four million people remain displaced. After witnessing
violence, losing their homes or loved ones, and uprooting their lives, many have been living in
temporary shelters or collective centers in a new city without consistent work, school, and other
necessities. Helping families regain autonomy and restore their sense of community within their “new
normal” is a priority for CORE.
With generous funding from the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund (UHF), we provide vital rental assistance
to hundreds of displaced families in Lviv, including children, the elderly, and people with special needs.
Support includes placement in private units and six months of cash rental assistance. CORE’s rental
assistance program has allowed these families to pursue long-term work opportunities, which will help
them cover ongoing rental costs as they begin to rebuild.
LEADERSHIP UPDATES
Join us in welcoming Matt O’Connell, CORE’s
Matt has been with CORE since day one
in 2010. His expertise and unwavering
Cash assistance is our preferred response
modality because it is faster and more
flexible than traditional, one-size-fits-all
humanitarian assistance. CVA empowers
individuals, households, and community
groups affected by crisis to choose how to
meet their needs, on their own terms. CORE
provides CVA when appropriate to help
people cover the costs of their basic needs
and essential services, replace lost assets,
and restart livelihoods.
In the last four years, I have been inspired
CRISIS IN HAITI
SEAN PENN ON
ANDERSON COOPER 360
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
PRE-OSCARS BENEFIT
During an evening centered around the
power of community, CORE raised $1.4
million for vulnerable families around the
world in need of humanitarian support.
CORE’S
IMPACT
Sean Penn spoke with CNN’s Anderson Cooper about
CORE’s work in Haiti amid the escalating conflict.
Haiti has been gripped by a wave of unprecedented
unrest and violence. Warring gangs control much of
the capital, Port-au-Prince, choking off vital supply
lines to the rest of the country. Gang members
have terrorized the population, forcing more than
300,000 people to flee their homes amid waves of
indiscriminate killing, kidnapping, arson, and rape.
The rising violence has deeply worsened the already
difficult living conditions for millions of people,
especially in the capital. This has put a vulnerable
population— especially those living in the lower part
of Port-Au-Prince—at further risk with food, health,
protection, and water/sanitation needs among the
most critical. Families are living in constant fear, unable
to leave their homes or access fresh food, clean water,
and urgent medical care.
In coordination with our partners World Central
Kitchen and Acceso, CORE is delivering food kits
in the Delmas region of Port-au-Prince where we
have been committed long-term to implementing
humanitarian programs.
The delivery of these food kits will minimize the
need for families to risk their safety searching for
sustenance. Each food kit provides three meals a day
for an entire month to a household of five. CORE and
our partners are locally procuring all materials for the
food kits to ensure we support the Haitian economy
during this critical time.
To support our ongoing efforts, please
donate to CORE today. In times of crisis,
your monthly donation can make a life-long
impact, every single day for communities
in-need.
By starting a monthly gift, your regular
support year-round will allow CORE to
be able to react quickly and effectively to
ongoing emergencies around the world.
Help us continue to empower communities
in and beyond crisis where the needs are
greatest with an unrestricted gift now.
