Voices of Our Time: Vocal Competition All-Stars Program

A MESSAGE FROM
the Maestro
It is my pleasure to welcome you to this
year’s Voices of Our Time concert, featuring
four past award winners from our Annual
Vocal Competition. Each of these singers
beautifully demonstrate the breadth of
artists we have supported over the years.
They are now enjoying well-earned success
on stages throughout the country. We’re
excited to welcome them back to Annapolis
for this special concert, featuring some of
the most beloved arias and ensembles
from the operatic canon.
Tonight’s singers are joined by pianist Justina Lee, our Artistic
Advisor, and my long-time colleague. Justina has collaborated with
some of the finest singers in the world and, in addition to her role at
Annapolis Opera, serves as Associate-Director for Vocal Arts at the
Julliard School. I’m thrilled you have the opportunity to experience
the artistry of Justina and these four remarkable artists!
I hope you will also join us on May 5th at 3 PM at Maryland Hall for
this year’s Annual Vocal Competition. For 36 years, Annapolis Opera
has supported emerging artists through this competition which has
cultivated generations of young talent, connecting them to audiences
and industry professionals while also providing crucial financial
support. We’ll soon announce the 8 finalists who will compete on
May 5th after two increasingly competitive rounds and look forward
to you joining us for this exciting event.
