FROM THE DESK OF DAN BARTHOLOMAE

WHAT IS THE BRONCO ATHLETIC FUND?

The Bronco Athletic Fund provides resources for student-athletes

to receive a lasting educational and athletic experience while

contributing to the financial sustainability of the Athletic Department.

This promotes support among students, faculty, alumni and friends at

the local, state and national levels.

HOW DOES MY GIFT MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

With the focused attention of the Bronco Athletic Fund, your gifts specifically

support the areas of greatest impact, and we’ll work with you to stay engaged in

the impact you’ve made for our student-athletes and program.

IS THE BAF PART OF ATHLETICS ADVANCEMENT?

Yes! The Bronco Athletic Fund is a department within Athletics Advancement

and the WMU Foundation. Your contributions in support of our student-athletes

are processed through the WMU Foundation.

HOW DO I BECOME A BRONCO ATHLETIC FUND MEMBER?

Membership starts at just $50 per year. You can designate your gift to any area

of support within Athletics assuming all priority seating contributions have been

made. Your gift, your choice!

ARE MY GIFTS TAX DEDUCTIBLE?

Philanthropic gifts above and beyond priority seating requirements are

considered to be tax deductible. Gifts used to receive priority seating are not

deductible per the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Consult a tax advisor to determine the

deductibility of your gift(s).

DEAR BRONCOS,

It’s an inspiring time to be part of Western Michigan

Athletics and a great day to be a Bronco! With nine

championships in 2023, WMU Athletics experienced one

of the winningest periods in our history.

Our outstanding student-athletes continue to thrive on

the fields and courts, as well as in the classroom and

community. Their achievements are not only emblematic

of Bronco integrity, determination and teamwork, but

also a testament to our outstanding coaches and staff,

devoted fans, and loyal supporters like you.

Renewing your Bronco Athletic Fund membership powers

the growth and success of our student-athletes across

all 16 varsity sports. Membership also enables us to offer

state-of-the-art facilities and training environments that

allow WMU to stay competitive with Division-1 institutions

and secure more victories.

Your investment impacts student-athletes through

scholarships, nutrition, equipment, travel, holistic

development programming and more. As the landscape

of college athletics evolves, our coaches and staff

remain focused on providing Broncos with the resources

they need to win championships, graduate ready to

pursue their passions and lead fulfilling lives after they

leave WMU.

By renewing your BAF membership and through your

generous philanthropic support, you can help ensure that

Broncos Reign for years to come.

We look forward to celebrating an even brighter future

with you.

THANK YOU AND GO BRONCOS!

PRIORITY

POINTS

PRIORITY POINTS

Whether you’re a Bronco-level supporter or a member of

the Mike Gary Society, every Bronco Athletic Fund member

has the opportunity to earn Priority Points! Priority Points are

used to allocate tickets to postseason and away games, determine

event access and membership benefits and fulfill seating and

parking upgrade requests. Priority Points will be allocated to

all Bronco Athletic Fund members that maintain an annual

membership gift of at least $50. Missed years will result in loss

of points and lower overall ranking. Priority Points lock for the

coming year on June 15, 2024.

WAYS TO EARN POINTS

• 3 points for each $100 unrestricted gift to Athletics

• 2 points for each $100 restricted gift to Athletics

• 2 points for each $1,000 gift to the University

• 1 point for each $100 gift to Athletics prior to 2021

ONE-TIME BONUS POINTS

• 5 points for being a WMU alumnus/alumna

Bronco Athletic Fund members have the chance to

purchase Priority Seating in Waldo Stadium, Lawson Ice

Arena and University Arena. Priority Seating Allocation

credit for one sport does not cover minimum seating

contributions in a different sport. For example, if you

contribute $500 to Football Priority Seating, you do not

receive credit toward the purchase of Men’s Basketball

or Hockey season tickets that require a Priority Seating

contribution. Contributions tied to Priority Seating will

support the overall well-being of WMU student-athletes as

unrestricted dollars to the Bronco Athletic Fund.

FAQ

WHY IS MY TOTAL 2024-2025 GIFT DUE

BY JUNE 15, 2024?

In order to best serve you and process your

Priority Seating and Priority Parking requests,

and establish your Membership Level before the

commencement of the 2024 fall athletic season,

it is important that we receive all gifts by June

15, 2024.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T MAKE MY

TOTAL GIFT BY JUNE 15?

Gifts made after the June 15 deadline are still

applicable to the purchase of season tickets in

a Priority Seating Location; however, that may

affect your Priority Point ranking for benefits such

as seating upgrades, requests for tickets to away

contests and postseason tournaments, and your

eligibility to park in designated Bronco Athletic

Fund Priority Parking lots for the upcoming

athletic season.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN

RESTRICTED AND UNRESTRICTED

GIFTS TO THE BRONCO ATHLETIC FUND?

Restricted gifts are designated to a specific

program, facility or project (i.e. Sport Specific

Scholarships and Champions Funds). Unrestricted

gifts support the overall well-being of all Bronco

student-athletes.
