brand identity was not conceived,
but rather evolved over time, based
on passion, love and the strong will
to make dreams come true. Jewelry

joie-de-vivre, or “joy-of-living”, which
every piece embodies. The relaxed
charm of Italy blends with the laidback
Bavarian holiday atmosphere,

Enthusiasm for art
and architecture
When Gerhard and his wife Andrea
founded the company in Munich in
1991, they had ambitious plans in
addition to a burning passion for
jewelry and style, paired with their
affinity for art and architecture.
CAPOLAVORO‘s aesthetic evolved,
influenced by Gerhard Fritsch‘s passion
for Renaissance masterpieces
absorbed during his studies in Florence,
and inspired by memories of
opulent baroque church decorations
he admired as a child in Bavaria.
Enhanced by the accumulated trade
knowledge,
a considerable amount of courage,
and, of course, the steadfast support
of his wife, who continues to
stand by his side in both personal
and professional aspects to this day.
Move to Inning:
The start of local manufacturing
A notable moment in the company‘s
history was the establishment
and relocation to an impressive new
headquarters to Inning at Lake Ammersee—a
modern „palazzo“ with a
contemporary energy concept. This
is the ideal setting for Bavaria‘s sole
jewelry manufacturer, extending a
warm welcome to visitors from all
corners of the world. At first glance,
the building appears to be an unadorned
cube, with almost imperceptible
indentations on the facade
that evoke the architectural style of
historical Italian palazzos. It was built
according to the plans of Gerhard
Fritsch himself, who not only realized
a building worth seeing, but also
an ecological showcase. It is the first
company building in Bavaria to be
constructed using solid wood technology
and, behind its white facade,
offers a healthy living atmosphere
as an energy savings wood structure.
Guests are not only welcome
to visit the CAPOLAVORO boutique
(by appointment) or any of our exclusive
concessionaires around the
world and can also take a look behind
the scenes on a special tour of
the production facility. CAPOLAVO-
RO has been producing its own collections
for many years - as the only
jewelry manufacturer in Bavaria.
Sustainable and made-to-last
Not only does the construction adhere
to sustainability and ecological
principles, but the entire company
is aligned with these values. As an
illustration, the company exclusively
utilizes precious metals sourced
from the secondary cycle, extracting
second-life gold or recycled gold
from old gold, thereby avoiding the
depletion of finite resources. The
stones come exclusively from fair,
ethical sources. Furthermore, the
jewelry collection‘s commitment
to high-quality standards ensures
the longevity of each piece, actively
countering a disposable mindset.

WHAT ARE THE HALLMARKS OF OUR
Masterpieces
The name CAPOLAVORO conveys
a profound message, signifying
„masterpiece“ in Italian. It alludes
to the exceptional skills of
great artists and underscores the
company‘s commitment to achieving
the utmost level of craftsmanship.
DaVinci’s “Mona Lisa”, Mann’s “Zauberberg”
(Magic Mountain), or Vivaldi’s
“Four Seasons”: masterpieces
of art, literature and music enthrall
people and are seen as pinnacles
of cultural achievement of a society.
This term has long transcended its
artistic origins and is now bestowed
upon exceptional accomplishments
across diverse fields. It applies to
awe-inspiring architecture, top-tier
scientific achievements, and, indeed,
to luxurious products like exquisite
writing instruments (such as Montblanc‘s
„Masterpiece“), highly efficient
timepiece mechanics (such as

should be an especially well-made
and extraordinary piece, which
convinces not only the critics but
also the audiences. In traditional
terms, an item earned the designation
of a masterpiece when crafted
by an artisan who achieved the title
„master of their craft.“ This title
serves as evidence of the craftsman‘s
acquired skill and is regarded
as a pinnacle of their ability.
In the jewelry industry, goldsmiths
are the individuals who attain this
prestigious status. The foundation
for earning the title of „master“ is
laid during their three and a half
years years of training and apprenticeship.
The CAPOLAVORO goldsmith master
emphasizes, „Becoming a master
doesn‘t happen within the initial
three and a half years; it‘s more
realistically attained after four and
a half years, accounting for the apprenticeship
period, often extending
to five and a half years.“ Ideally,
it‘s not only technical expertise,
professionalism, and high-quality
performance that make a difference
but also a certain esprit. Equally
demanding is the qualification for
becoming a setter, succinctly describing
the role of a skilled jewel
setter. Here too, a three and a half
years apprenticeship marks the
commencement of a successful
career, often combined with the
artist‘s goldsmith training.

Exercising responsibility, CAPOLAVORO exclusively employs precious metals sourced from
the secondary cycle, maintaining the highest quality standards. With a focus on our future,
sustainability in gold processing is a paramount concern for CAPOLAVORO. For several years,
the company has been dedicated to utilizing secondary gold, commonly known as „recycled
gold,“ thereby markedly enhancing the environmental impact of all its products and
increasing the value of precious metals.

When buying our diamonds, we pay attention not only to the finest qualities, but also to
fair trade and conflict-free sources. An important issue of our time: the pleasure of a beautiful
piece of jewelry should not be clouded by the fact that ethical guidelines are disregarded
and the environment is polluted during its production. Of course, this also applies to diamonds,
whose extraction process is often and rightly criticized. We therefore only use stones
from ethically correct sources. This means that they meet all international requirements
for fair trade, no child labor, sustainable production and environmentally friendly extraction,
and much more. In addition, they are naturally formed and not artificially produced. Our
diamonds highlight every piece of jewelry and are a lasting investment. From the size of 0.30
carat the diamond is accompanied by a GIA (Gemological Institute of America) certificate.

We exclusively work with naturally colored stones, sourced from the region of Idar-Oberstein
(Germany), renowned for their captivating beauty and distinctive color variations. These
stones exhibit a radiant spectrum, akin to vibrant messengers from the depths of the
earth, showcasing all the colors of the rainbow. Careful cutting is crucial for unveiling the
unique beauty and individuality inherent in colored stones. Our supplies are sourced solely
from the German trade, and in the cutting workshops of the gemstone hub Idar-Oberstein,
they are shaped into perfect beauty. As each stone possesses distinct characteristics, color
stones are akin to little personalities, defying standard measurements. We utilize only natural
stones, acknowledging that their colors may exhibit subtle variations—reminiscent of
the nuanced shades of a flower or the morning sky‘s light.

Love Lock“ bracelet. Only those who know
the code can make or break the connection.
The ability to create or sever the connection
lies solely in the hands of those who possess
the code. „Love Lock“ is available in 750

The Love Lock functions technically like a combination
lock, but the 6-digit opening code is individually programmed
by our CAPOLAVORO master goldsmiths.
Indeed, the imagination for the Love Lock‘s opening
code knows no limits. The only requirement is that the
code consists of 6 characters. For instance, you could
choose your favorite diamond color, the names of
your children, your wedding date, or perhaps a mantra
that guides you every day, such as „Happy“, “Love”
or „Family“, as your unlocking code.
