Here in Småland’s own Grand Canyon of dramatic scree, cliffs and
running water, there is a beautiful flora of mosses and lichens. An 8
km long ravine that was widened and deepened by masses of water
created when inland ice melted 12,000 years ago. The Emån river
is one of Sweden’s most naturally diverse waterways, with around
30 species of fish, and is probably best known for its large and fastgrowing
brown trout. No fewer than eight world records have been
broken by fish caught in this river over the years.
Hultsfred
Cycle on a trolley or travel on a nostalgic train along a winding
narrow gauge railway that takes you through dark forests and open
landscapes. Take a break on your journey and have a look in the
fika trolley or a dip in the lake. You can start your trolley ride from
Hultsfred, Flaten or Virserum, or from Hultsfred to Västervik. The
train chugs along at a relaxed speed, past villages, beautiful nature
and forest landscapes.
Öland
On Öland you’ll find Lådbilslandet, an amusement park with
merry-go-rounds, bouncy castles, a playground and an obstacle
course. If you’re longing for sand between your toes, don’t miss
Böda beach, Öland’s most beautiful beach, which is 20 km long
with crunchy white sand. On north-west Öland there’s the fishing
village of Byxelkrok, where you can wander between the fishing
huts and along lovely promenade enjoying everything from fresh
prawns to churros.

Blå jungfrun
The legendary island Blå Jungfrun (“the Blue Maiden”), also known
as Blåkulla, is a granite block towering 86m above the sea right in
the middle of Kalmarsund, sparking people’s curiosity since ancient
times. Take the chance to visit this beautiful national park.
