The Ståhl family are taking the boat this summer
This year there is a wonderful accommodation
option for those travelling
by boat: Oskarshamn guest harbour at
Brädholmen. Here you have a beautiful
seaside setting, while being close to
centre of town. Brädholmen is also
the venue for the opening ceremony,
Bagheera Relay and Elite Sprint.
Among those sailing to Oskarshamn are
the Ståhl family from Sundbybergs IK.
Their boat is an Elan 34 and its place in the
harbour has been booked since last year’s
O-Ringen at Åre, after the family visited the
Småland Coast 2024 stand and found out
about the guest harbour.
Taking the boat on an orienteering adventure
is nothing new for this family, who
started the tradition back in 2014 in Karlstad
– this is actually the fourth time they’re
staying on their boat during O-Ringen!
The journey to and from Oskarshamn will
take the Ståhls through St Anna’s archipelago
and there will be several stops on the
way. Altogether they will spend around five
weeks on the boat. The family think that the
orienteering itself is the best thing about
O-Ringen but they’re also looking forward
to combining the competition with experiencing
nature and meeting clubmates.
Their club, Sundbybergs IK, currently has
around 80 competitors registered.

Jonathan is also a top international ski
orienteer, so of course the rollerskis and poles
always find a space on the boat when he sails.
O-Ringen City is located around 2 km from central
Oskarshamn, in Döderhultsdalen. It has 2,500 camping
pitches, all with a good surface. At the centre of O-Ringen
City is O-Ringen Square, a natural meeting place.
This will host a prize giving each evening, as well as
entertainment and other activities.
Each club has their own area of the campsite. We are doing our
best to ensure you will have a pitch close to your clubmates, even if
some have chosen pitches with electricity and others without.

and one at O-Ringen Square
• There are showers at three places next to the campsite: Rödsleskolan,
Rödsle BK (O-Ringen City) and Tennishallen sports hall.

This year’s O-Ringen City is also close to both bathing areas and
the town centre, so bring your bike. You can also use your bike to
get to Stage 3 in Gunnarsö, where the arena is the perfect distance
away for cycling.
