Auburn Recreation District operates the Sierra Pool in Auburn as well as

Placer Hills Pool in Meadow Vista. The pools are open to the public according

to the schedule below. Check postings at the pool and/or online for any

changes to schedules or closures.

DAILY FEES

$4 resident (6 and under)

$5 resident (7 and older)

ALL PERSONS ENTERING THE POOL

MUST PAY THE FEE - swimming

or non-swimming. All swimmers

6 years of age and younger must

be accompanied in the water by a

swimming parent or guardian.

There will be times that the pool will be

closed or the schedule may be changed. We

have listed in the activity guide those that we

know prior to publication. Check postings at

the pool or on-line for any other changes.

Family Pass covers five immediate

family members. Two additional

family members may be added:

To best serve all members of the community you will need to sign up for the session and time slot you desire. On the first day

of each session the swimmers will be tested and placed in classes with age and ability appropriate peers. As students master

skills they will be introduced to the next natural progression.

LESSONS

The Auburn Recreation District offers private

swimming lessons for children and adults who

desire more individual attention. Private lessons

are available both at the Sierra Pool and at Placer

Hills Pool. Lessons are scheduled in four ½ hour

blocks. Available dates are June 6 through August

5. Private lessons for special needs children are

also available. Please contact Patti Waskowiak

to coordinate instructors and lesson times

Synchronized swimming combines

the grace of dancers, the coordination

and flexibility of gymnasts, the spirit

of cheerleading, and the strength of

water polo players into one beautiful

and powerful sport. Practices are

held in the evenings Mon-Thur and

some weekends. New swimmers are

encouraged to join.

Not feeling like the best version of

You? Restore yourself! Each class starts

with gentle movements focused on

finding a mindful presence of breath

and body. We move the body towards

longer holds with the support of

bolsters and blankets. This class is

intended to relax the mind and body.

SENIOR YOGA

We take a little more time to get into

each pose, offering modifications for

everybody. This gentle yet challenging

class offers a fun and safe environment

to work on balance and strength, and

flexibility. This is not a chair class. We

spend some time on the ground, on

hands and knees, standing on two feet

and standing on one foot.

WRITE A NOVEL IN 7 WEEKS

This fun and supportive workshop is designed to help teens

get an entire novel drafted in just seven weeks, utilizing

techniques and tools from Camp NaNoWriMo (National

Novel Writing Month). Participants will discover how to build

character, plot, and setting and how to use them to drive a

story. There will be games, and prizes and a lot of in-class

writing. This workshop is taught by a professional freelance

editor and published author who wrote her first book when

CLAY AND PAPER

MACHE CAMP

This exciting mixed media camp will

start you on your way to becoming a

talented artist. Create with clay and

cover it with paper mache to create

a paper mache wall hanging. Paint it

and make it fabulous. At the end of

class you will have a wonderful three

dimensional piece of artwork to hang

on your wall.

Calling all theater lovers. In this camp,

children will be learning a script in a

show and making costumes and back

KNIFE MAKING

If you have always dreamed of making

your own knife from raw materials,

but didn’t know where to start, you

can take part in a hand forged knife

making class, where students will

learn skills that will stay with them

for a lifetime. Using traditional

blacksmithing methods, students will

forge their own custom knife out of

high carbon steel. We will cover the

basics of blacksmithing safety, forging

techniques, sheath construction and

some power tools usage.
