− Optimized high speed data transmission via VLAN in Layer 2 and optical fibre<br />
− Wide area distribution of a LAN in a plant<br />
− 205 subscribers in any order distributable to several network nodes<br />
− Redundant data transmission between the network nodes via optical fibre<br />
− Each optical fibre can transmit data from 2 separate VLANs<br />
− 2 switches in each nodes ensure network redundancy<br />
− Fast switchover of the switches in case of failure<br />
− High reliability by automatic fault detection<br />
• Defective Switch<br />
Redundant switch takes over the transmission via VLAN without any loss of service<br />
(Master/slave principle)<br />
• Defective fibre optic cable<br />
Redundant optical fibre transmits the data of both VLANs<br />
• Loop creation<br />
- Loop in a VLAN (patch cable incorrectly terminated in the switch) or<br />
- Loop in both VLANs (switches directly connected via patch cable)<br />
In both cases the involved ports of the switches are deactivated<br />
- Loop in a pre-connected switch, e.g. analogue call station module<br />
Connected devices are switched off<br />
