EXPO HIGHLIGHTS<br />

■ Go for a Training Run<br />

or Walk<br />

From the City Center, join Firecracker 4 and Fleet Feet<br />

on Saturday and Sunday at 9am for a training run, jog<br />

or walk on the Firecracker 4 four-mile road race course.<br />

All are welcome. It will be followed by pastries, coffee<br />

or juice in the lobby. Fleet Feet will be offering a basic<br />

gait analysis from their booth. Stop by the Firecracker 4<br />

booth for show specials on registration for their races.<br />

■ Join a Club<br />

This is the ideal time to join a running, biking, triathlon,<br />

paddling or hiking club to explore new areas, do<br />

events, meet new people, and improve your knowledge,<br />

skills and performance. Talk with members some<br />

of our area’s many organizations, get your questions<br />

answered, and get involved to help make it a happy,<br />

healthy and active year! Clubs participating include<br />

Hudson Mohawk Road Runners Club, Mohawk<br />

Hudson Cycling Club, Capital District Triathlon Club,<br />

Whitewater Paddlers of ADK, and many more.<br />

■ Try Paddling and Rowing<br />

Try the paddling and rowing ergometers and talk<br />

with experts about getting started, recreationally with<br />

events or competitively with welcoming events of all<br />

levels, at the St. Lawrence Valley Paddlers and NY<br />

Paddlesports Racing Association’s booths.<br />

■ Discover the NYS Canal<br />

Systems Working Lock<br />

NYS Canal Corporation will be bringing their largescale<br />

model lock which demonstrates how a fullsize<br />

lock operates, of interest to many children and<br />

adults. While you’re on the canal, learn more about<br />

PTNY’s Cycle the Erie Canal or new Cycle the Hudson<br />

Valley tour.<br />

■ Delicious Food<br />

9 Miles East specializes in healthy food for busy people,<br />

and they’ll be serving two varieties of GO Box entree<br />

salads, hearty seasonal soup, sandwiches on sourdough<br />

bread, kid-friendly baked items, local apples,<br />

Saratoga water, and local apple cider. Esperanto café<br />

will have grab and go snacks and foods freshly prepared,<br />

including their classic Oboys, pizza, plus little<br />

and big bites items. Coffee will be available from Death<br />

Wish Coffee and Grey Ghost Grinds. And Ben & Jerry’s<br />

of Saratoga will be serving hand dipped scoops and<br />

prepackaged bars from their ice cream cart.<br />

Custom Boats and Kayaks<br />

Speak with custom ultralight canoe and kayak builders<br />

from our region including <strong>Adirondack</strong> Canoe,<br />

Hornbeck Boats, Placid Boatworks, Slipstream<br />

Watercraft, all with models for casual paddling, fishing,<br />

camping or tripping. The Landing School of Boat<br />

Building and Yacht Design will be offering an eightmonth<br />

accredited program in yacht design, wooden<br />

boat building, composite boat building, and marine<br />

systems.<br />

■ Go Shopping<br />

Get ready for spring/summer with great expo deals on<br />

gear, clothing, footwear, products and services from<br />

our many exhibitors. Paca Gardens will be selling<br />

fine alpaca hats, gloves, socks, mittens, sweaters, fur<br />

products and scarves. Pure ADK will be selling quality<br />

hats and products that reflect the outdoor lifestyle and<br />

activities. Visit Upstate of Mind, where you exhale your<br />

work week, and inhale that small town relaxation.<br />

■ Register for an Event<br />

or Race<br />

Learn more about running, biking, triathlon, hiking<br />

or paddling events and races in our region. In some<br />

cases, you can register and save money right at the<br />

booth. Firecracker 4 and their related races will be<br />

offering show specials on registration. Run 4 Your Life<br />

5K is passing along a registration discount. You can<br />

also learn more about ADA’s Tour de Cure, Mohawk<br />

Hudson River Marathon & Half Marathon, Crystal<br />

Lake Triathlon training with CDTC, Glimmerglass<br />

Triathlon, LGLC’s Hike-A-Thon, the <strong>Adirondack</strong> Canoe<br />

Classic and more.<br />

■ Learn about Camps and<br />

Retreats<br />

Make Waves Retreat will be hosting a girls empowerment<br />

retreat for ages 13-18 this summer in the<br />

<strong>Adirondack</strong>s with SUP, yoga, SUP yoga, hiking and<br />

more. YMCA Camp Chingachgook and YMCA Camp<br />

Gorham host summer overnight, wilderness experiences<br />

for kids. Saratoga Lake Sailing Club will be sharing<br />

info on sailing, racing and sailing instruction. Saratoga<br />

Shredders aims to get more kids on bikes, including at<br />

schools, and developing Saratoga Bike Park.<br />

■ Trails and Sustainability<br />

Saratoga PLAN preserves the rural character, natural<br />

habitats and scenic beauty Saratoga Mountain Bike<br />

Association works to preserve trail access. Saratoga<br />

Trails Alliance aims to design, build and maintain<br />

accessible trail networks.<br />

■ Health & Fitness<br />

Stretch Zone will be offering practitioner assisted<br />

stretching to lead you through dynamic stretches to<br />

increase mobility, muscle function and improve daily<br />

movements. Stop by the DRIPBaR for wellness services<br />

to enhance vitality, optimize health and enrich<br />

your life.<br />

■ Explore Van Life<br />

in the Northeast<br />

Live a Little builds custom adventure van conversions<br />

that are tailored to customer needs. They’ll have a van<br />

on display for walk through with the comfort of home<br />

with an off-grid power system as well as thoughtful layouts,<br />

storage, cooking and more.<br />

■ Travel the Northeast<br />

The Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism will be<br />

representing <strong>Adirondack</strong> towns and promoting events<br />

including the <strong>Adirondack</strong> Canoe Classic, Celebrate<br />

Paddling ADK, and the 100th anniversary of the<br />

Northville-Placid Trail. Revolution Rail offers railbike<br />

excursions through the <strong>Adirondack</strong>s and they’ll be<br />

bringing a double railbike to display and for souvenir<br />

photo-ops at the Expo.<br />

■ Get a Massage or<br />

Enjoy Recovery<br />

Back in Balance Therapeutic Massage will be offering<br />

table and chair massage and issuing gift certificates<br />

from their booth. Sleep and Spas will be demonstrating<br />

their luxury spas, hot tubs, swim spas, massage chairs<br />

in their recovery zone.<br />

■ Bring the Kids<br />

Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park will have a hands-on<br />

activity with skulls and furs, highlighting the mammals<br />

of our area. and a variety of other exhibitors will have<br />

hands-on, family-friendly informative activities at<br />

their booths, so bring the whole family!<br />

■ Kids on Bikes<br />

Saratoga Shredders has a mission to get more kids on<br />

bikes! They offer mountain bike programs for kids from<br />

pre-K to grade 12 in the Saratoga, Queensbury and<br />

Albany areas. They’ll have kids bikes and trainers set up<br />

for the kids to enjoy. The Grey Ghost Composite team<br />

consists of kids in grades 6-12 from the Queensbury,<br />

Glens Falls, Saratoga and surrounding areas.<br />

■ Get a Photobooth<br />

Expo Souvenir<br />

Visit Saratoga Photobooth or Raven Events to take a<br />

few fun pictures for a free printout and online souvenir<br />

from the Summer Expo.<br />

■ Donate<br />

At the expo entrance, we will be accepting donations of<br />

non-perishable food items for the Regional Food Bank<br />

of Northeastern New York. Let’s work together to fight<br />

hunger!<br />
