christmas potluck party
a delicious & festive lunch at CKY
Potlucks are traditions in both the Chinese and
Western world. While my interpretation is that
potluck is a homemade buffet with friends at a
party, where we bring along our best dishes and
share them with others. The meaning of this is to
share every precious moment with the people we love
and care for. But since the pandemic started, many
people got sick, and went into quarantine and we
needed to keep social distance. Gradually the chances
of gathering became less and less, which was sad for
everyone. After many years, Covid-19 was gone, and I
finally got to join the school Christmas party with my
homemade potluck. I was very excited as it was my
first time joining.
I, myself, brought a box of fried chicken. Others
brought many food varieties, including ham, cheese,
cold noodles etc. Before we started to eat, we played
games like drawing a snowman without looking. When
the feast finally began, everyone was very excited
and started eating like mad. My fried chicken was so
popular that I almost didn’t get a bite. We had a very
enjoyable time. Time passed like water dripping from
a mountaintop to the lake below, the potluck went as
fast as it came and in a blink of an eye, it was time
to leave and go home. I wanted time to freeze as I
was not ready to say goodbye yet. However, time
never stops and yet the ones we love are always in
our hearts and never leave. I hope the school will host
this magical and special potluck again very soon.
